How can they make oversize rackets lighter than midplus rackets?

How can midplus or oversize rackets be lighter than the midsize version of the same racket (take Yonex RDS 001 or Prince Tour NXG Midsize vs Midplus)? You would think the midplus or oversize version would use more material and thus be heavier than the midsize version.

They use less stripes of fibre with MP or OS since they expect that players who use them want more power and maneuverability than a midsize racquet.

Assuming the same materials...

I'm thinking...

Put more air in the OS frame and less material (graphite, carbon, aerogel, kevlar, fiberglass, etc.).

Or... weight the mid size (in addition to its native material) with some other material that is more dense (i.e. lead). That's also how they change the distribution of weight and flexiness (overall and in specific locations).

That would make the OS racquets less stiff then, correct? The OS racquets are usually more stiff due to the fact they are lighter and inherently less stable. Wider beams... thinner walls?

OS racquets are usually more head heavy when compared to their similar model, perhaps they take some weight out of the handle.

I think it is an aluminum derivative. that window on those racquets may only be a decal, much as the triple thread braided things are that Prince uses

Hmmm. I think it's an actual 'window' as the area in question is a depression (like a piece cut out) not a raised area... as if something was stuck on.

Texalium is a very high quality fiberglass or glass fibre cloth (sheet, fabric, etc.) It can be coated with different materials for a variety of colors. The silver colored Texalium is usually coated with a very thin layer of aluminum. It's very durable and strong.
