How much difference does leather make?

In terms of feel (specifically with the bevels, but in general too), how much difference does leather make?

I have an overgrip I like, because it is soft, but it's somewhat think and sort of rounds out the grip, which I don't care for.

I wonder if using leather underneath (instead of Gamma Hi Tech) would allow me to use the same overgip and still get the bevel definition. Or is it the overgrip itself (regardless of the grip underneath) that is causing the loss of bevel definition?

The overgrip I like is Dunlop Hydramax. It's not very popular, I don't think, but there is nothing else like it. It's almost like cloth.

You'll get better bevel definition even with an overgrip on it. I really like the feeling of an overgrip on the leather. My 2 cents.

I'm kinda old skool, back in the day when most rackets came with leather grips. Other than weight issues, they last almost forever.

after switching to leather, everything else seems mushy. mushy as in i need a death grip on the racket to prevent it from moving. it takes a little while for your hands to adjust to the leather though.
