How much time and effort does it take for a player to develop a very different area of their game?

For certain players who want to get to the next level in terms of success and rankings, that player should develop a very different area of their game. For example, Isner needs to develop his net game and become more of an attacking player. Tsitsipas meeds to develop a slice bh to handle fast paced returns. Sinner needs to add more variety in his baseline rallies.

How much time and effort does it take for a player to develop a very different area of their game? Is it possible?

Isner is too slow to be a genuine net attacking player. You can't train speed.

The only things you can develop are technique and experience.

You can train everything, only that it might not be enough in some cases, but everything is improvable

Sure, each person is born with certain baseline/innate strengths and weaknesses, but we absolutely can train and improve pretty much every area.

Why wouldn't Isner be able to train to become faster and more explosive in his movement? He might not become the fastest ATP player, but he could pass some of his peers or close the gap, which just might be enough to help him beat them.

And considering how little downtime pros have, they should probably focus on improving whatever shortcomings are actually making them lose matches, rather than retooling their whole game.
