How No1e usually reacts after choking

usually players fall after a big choke and string together bad results, keep losing to the same opponent and fall into a certain crisis. the most famous example is fed's trilogy against nole. and his losses in consecutive USO or Ws. but I think Nole has reacted completely differently so far.

the last choke that nole had was the W finals.
a bad reaction at the end of the second set that probably cost him that set and consequently the match. after that he won both matches against raz and swept cinci, USO, paris and WTF.

choke against medvedev in USO21 F when he played for CYGS.
nole won the next 4 matches and 5 of the following matches including the Paris finals of the same year and the USO finals this year. therefore, he won Paris against the same opponent, and in 2022, a lott of things happened that had nothing to do with sports. whatever his response to those events we saw this year.

missed MP against cilic in queens 2018.
MP solved cilic with an ace but nole and 4-1** in the TB. anyway, nole swept the next 6 victories against cilic and won the first W (the very next tournament) and then the USO and won vs cinci in cinci, paris and WTF the same year, which he finishes as #1 after the crisis of 2017 and the first half of 2018. all he won that year come after that match: W, cinci, USO and shanghai.

I don't know if the defeat against Rafa at RG 2013 can be called a choke
and if he would have won even if it wasn't for the accident with the net, but that year he didn't win W or USO, but he did string Beijing, Paris, Shanghai and WTF in the same year. he lost to Rafa in the USO final but that was the last time Rafa won vs nole off clay and the last time he lost a set on HC to Rafa (9-0, 19-0 after that).

we also remember the choke in the first 2 sets in his first USO but also his first GS final
against Fed in 2007. However, Nole beat him already in the next match at AO the following year, and after that he won his first GS.

I wonder how can you choke a match that you lost 6-4 6-4 6-4.

Truth is, Djokovic never choked a match in his career, though his fans like to complain about some "choking". He never had any chance to convert the matchpoint against Cilic in Queens. Though he did hit a double fault on the tiebreak, I'll give you this. But that's one point.

Not to many noles fans did even want him to play this DC. DC is not what it used to be and this does not change anything in his GOAThood. 9th W would change a lot for fed. That match practically send him to retirement. We will see how noles lost affect him. Often he comes out stronger efter things like this. I don't think that fed choked in any of his losses to nole. Of 6 bolls he missed only 2nd one in 2011 and did double fouled on BP after. Nole did a UE on his first MP. I don't know what is worse but it is obvious what is more important for their respective carers.

You would think a member of the team would be trained by now to run on and perform the Heimlich manoeuvre whenever their guy starts to choke on court!

Lol such a stupid take. Whenever he lost, it was because he choked? Do you even know choking means?

He literally just choked against Sinner yesterday, got broken at 5-all in the 3rd making a bunch of UE's to lose serve.

I agree. After 3 GS and winner of Nitto ATP finals this year we should all agree Djo is the worst choker in the history of the sport. If only he had some stability… If only he wasn’t human. All this raw talent wasted.

Or hear me out...

Good players generally win. When Novak loses, he typically goes on to win again because he's good. Less good players go on to not win as much after a choke because they aren't as good.

All that Djokovic has achieved and you still need to cope like this?
If a person is a fan of always winning, then the person will go through strange coping mechanisms such as this one or the one you saw yesterday where a fan was in near tears because Djokovic didn’t have a “90%+ win rate anymore.” That fan was desperately hoping that the match doesn’t count towards official records.

While it’s true that you have fans such as these for all great athletes/teams, I’ve never seen it to the extent that we have for Djokovic where the person’s entire fandom is all about records recorded and Ultimate tennis statistics pages updated—there’s a pretty good chance they don’t even watch because if they do, there’s a chance he loses. They just wait for the win and the subsequent change on UTS. There is no mention of the game itself. In this case, the entertainment stems from the dopamine associated with aligning oneself and supporting someone who always wins and getting dopamine hits when the new records get posted on wiki or UTS. There’s reasons for this, e.g., near universal access to data, new fandoms in places where it didn’t exist, etc.
