How to shrink/compress leather?

Hey guys,

So I have 2 dunlop bio 300s. Initially I wanted a size 1 (4 1/8) because I have small hands and I like a small grip but found out one of the them have cracks in the handle (bad quality control?) so I got the size 2 (4 1/4) instead.

I put on 2 leather grips I had from other racquets (both head leather tour) and it feels like one feels alot bulkier than the other. One leather grip feels super tight/compressed/thin/overstretched and it feels great with just a slight gap between my palm and finger with an overgrip on. The other is alot bulkier, feels heavier (changes the balance to more HL), doesn't feel as comfortable in my hand and there's a bigger gap between my palm and finger. My index finger can easily fit in that gap. I can understand why since I've had one longer than the other and I've played with it more....or maybe...Head changed the thickness of the leather tour? probs not.

Anyways due to this my two racquets are not matched in spec as one is more HL because of the heavier, less compressed grip so I rarely use it and always keep it as a backup. Is there any way I can make the bulky leather to shrink, compress like the other one? I've tried boiling it, stretching it as hard as I can but it hasn't worked.

P.S. I've tried sanding down my grip WHICH I DON'T RECOMMEND and the leather grip still feels bulky.
One grip looks bigger than the other although they are the same Head leather tour, although purchased at different times.
The thinner compressed one feels abit like the Babolat skin feel grip but obviously heavier.

P.S.S. Maybe one of the grips is from a female cow so it compressed easily. The other probably is from a thick skinned male moo moo.

I've been through a similar thing with gamma grips. After reapplying over and over I realised that the issue wasn't actually the grip. It was the pallets on my Prestige that was simply just to big. All my racquets were a grip 3 but I suppose someone had used to much glue on one of the pallets which forced it to weigh more and be bulkier.

You should maybe check if this is the issue (I don't know if Dunlop got pallets?). What was the issue when you tried to sand it down?

I would start with the rackets. Measure the pallets to make sure they are the the same. You could always remove the grip and replace it with a good over wrap or two.

You can always play around with different leather grips (weight and thickness) too if necessary... There's a great thread on that by @ChicagoJack in the Other Equipment section

Try swapping the leather grips to see if the problem is with a thicker leather grip. If yes, one way to get a uniform compression is to drive your car over the leather grip a few times.
