I have the answer!

For all of you guys posting questions and wondering, "why does ESPN's coverage of tennis stink so much?", well I have the answer for you! It's because people in America don't care about tennis. It's just not that big here to the general public. ESPN plays what their viewers want to see, and there aren't as many people wanting to view tennis as other sports, even boxing or poker. Just be happy there's any coverage at all. Where I am only the finals and maybe the semifinals of each major tournament are shown. If you want to see these matches that badly, buy tickets and go out to the tourny, then you can see every smallest match.

You guys are ridiculous. I wouldn't have to state the obvious if so many people on this board weren't oblivious to it. *sigh*

is this supposed to be new news? I hate when people tell me "just be happy for the coverage you have" or even worse "buy the tickets and go to the tournament, then you can see all the matches"

this post s u c k s, you don't have the answer, you are just posting unoriginal material, and your solutions?? are trite

Apparently not a lot of dudes on this board.

C'mon man, i'm just messin with ya. Your conculsion is in fact a good one. But its also a logical one. I believe the people complaining about the lack of tennis coverage on ESPN also know the real reason why this is.....its a popularity/money issue. Just like every other sport in the world.

umm..honestly who on these boards doesn't know tennis has some really crappy ratings compared to other "sports"....

If it's logical then isn't it good that someone said it? I'm tired of hearing about how America sucks and American channels suck because they don't have the tennis coverage people want.

You guys are missing the whole point here. It's apparently not "obvious" because there's 3 or 4 posts a day about it.

Of course Americans haven't really paid attention to tennis. But we still like to debate about the reasons why they don't. ESPN has done a lot better but it's true that they need people to be watching. But sometimes you gotta take a little risk...it's tennis' job to convince them that it's worth it to take that risk.

That's how I see it anyway.

Fedubai, thank you for the informative post. Very cool point of view, and you didn't say my thread sucks so I like you just for that.

I'm glad I am in the Philippines. The Star Sports and two other sports channels show most tennis pro tournaments (Cincy, Rogers, etc.) from day one. :p

I doubt tennis is popular here. Maybe because its cheaper for these channels to show tennis instead of other sports, IMO.

Good for you, no really, i'm stuck here with high quality tennis going on half way around the planet and there happens to be Live snooker on my sports channel with about 30 people in the "stands" that all look like they were paid good money to sit and watch the game and clap like little b***** when they are told.
