I met Murphy Jensen yesterday

While I was working at starbucks yesterday this tall white guy walks in with a Super Bowl jacket and orders a soy chai... we had a little conversation and he was telling me how he just got back from the super bowl and he showed me some pics from it in his blackberry then I asked him if he was a former athlete... I don't have the Tennis Channel so I didn't know that Luke Jensen had a brother. Murphy is a super cool guy and he's gonna get me in to see Roddick and Blake play sometime this week. Only at Starbucks would I meet someone famous like that and get the oppurtunity to see big time players play live.

jdawg02, the Jensens were the Bryan brothers of the mid 90s in terms of popularity. They were more entertaining, but not as good as the Bryans... and didn't win too many matches too. They were ranked #17 in doubles in 1993!?

Whatever you do, don't let Murphy hear James Blunt while you are around him. It is not pretty.

I was 8 years old in 1993 and not really exposed to tennis... I didn't pick up my first racquet till 94 lol

did he tell you how they (with Luke) down 2 sets to one and won the 93 French Open Doubles?

Good one! They are forever reminding people about it. Murphy also likes to remind people he beat Wilander twice on clay. Probably feels a little proud being an American and winning on clay, something that the newer crowd is not able to do.

thats super cool jdawg02....i went to this clinic last year during the SAP open where i met both the jensen brothers and saw them put on a fabulous humorous display of doubles against some other two random european pros....got luke jensen's autograph as well...both are very cool guys :)

Last summer I played on a court next to Murphy Jensen. He was rallying/practicing with the lead singer from Bush, who was very competent himself. I was impressed to see both playing at an average parks court with the rest of us Grabowski's.

'....It gets even better, Murphy has/had a business card with his info on it, and under his name, it had French Open Champion....'

I saw them at an exo a couple years ago. PLayed dubs against Roddick and Fish, I think. One of them (the shorter one), wore a football helmet the whole time. They're a lot of fun. I hope they stick around the sport a long time.

Murphy is bald, Luke has hair, as we all saw on ESPN's AO coverage. Luke was bald for a while, I think he lost a bet.
