It seems the racquet is now similar to his old Prince just a little more oomph a few
more errors but more fun to watch than AZev.

Dont know why he is going to retire they guy is still sharp and apart from the injury
at Auckland he could have found his old form a little earlier in the year even at the AO.

Yes, I saw Auckland. Reminded me why I always loved watching him. Best of the short guys (he is about my height). (I've been into Schwartzmann in the same way in the past 2 years or so (at least ever since I was in Eastbourne to see him battle in 1st round in 2017 ), ...as, although Goffin is a good fighter, he is also a tad tame.)

If he is lucky the organisers and Nadal might throw him a bone in Barcelona, but that is all the "bang" he could hope for to leave with.

Federer and many players have fallen down the ranking for many years for different reasons
but you cannot put Ferrer in a different category just because he doesnt have the weapons of the top 3.
Ferrer unless he has something else on the side apart from marriage, is going to itch to get back into tennis
as physically he is one of the best out there.

Look at Nole and Federer how much they struggled with consistency (considering their abilites) once they
changed to new racquets. Ferrer needs consistency more than any other player due to his lack of weapons
and going to Babolat showed a massive drop in his rankings and many broken sticks as well.
Pretty much Prince pulled the plug on his sponsorship and his tennis went pear shaped until he has
finally adjusted to the Wilson copy of his long body POG. Its not quite the Prince but its finally close to his usual glove.

If he continues to beat selfies and hype gens, I dont mind seen him hang around in the top 50
his kind of warrior tennis now with a dtl on the BH he never had before in his game is causing
alot of trouble for his opponents that remember him just hitting crosscourt on that side and
running around to take time away from you by running around to a FH that although not powerful
many cannot predict due to his compact simple stroke with the same stance.

The Fezz is back beating his younger taller weaker FH gatekeeper Azev in 3
almost had him at the Hopman Cup this year but lacked the level after Cuban Cigar Christmas break
Now seems to be almost back to his best, still needs more matches with better players
to get to that level as he had quite a few errors but its not easy to beat this Hacker on slow hard courts

I feel like he's probably extra motivated because he knows this is his last run, and he can see the light at the end of the tunnel. He's been a shadow of his former self for years, losing early when he's healthy, and missing way too much time with injury. When you get old the body lets you down even if your balls and brains are still strong as ever.

He still has his share of embarrassments in Bo3 actually. Mostly he just gets 5/6 super deep runs in big Bo3 tournaments but apart from that he has his terrible losses there too.

Pressure will be on Zverev this clay season. He had a huge buffer but now he risks tanking his ranking quite significantly, and he does depend on decent draws to make consistent deep runs.

He also better get his **** together before he falls back too far in the race.

Ferrer is retiring because he has a young child and he doesn't want to be constantly traveling any more. This is as well as the fact that it is now only a matter of time before he racks up a serious injury that may hinder his ability to be able to do things outside of tennis.

The guy is ferrer-ocious who is finding his form again since his marriage (you can lose your drive from day in day out tennis at first), child, New Babolat, New Wilson and other things that happen after so many years of competing. It happened to all the top 3 more times than the Fezz.

He can at least stay in the top 30 away from qualifiers and keep doing what he loves staying around Europe, Arabia and Asia alone but Family life is hard to beat.

as his son drags his feet around like a worn out donkey than the kid he brought up with love
and tennis passion. He made his kids sleep at the club he cleaned, watching tennis highlights
and cleaning the club early in the morning before player showed up.
A real shame his son has this Nishikori lack lustre attitude with Tsonga like ego near by.

so both have histories with cleaning equipment but for different reasons.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it was the French Open final, 2013, on Ferrer's beloved clay, when he lost to Nadal in the third set - Ferrer had given it his all, his best efforts. He stumbled and lay on his back too long, as if totally done with competitive tennis. I thought, Oh, Lord, that's it. Ferrer is finished. He did make 4 more grand slam QFs, but he never looked the same to me after that 2013 final. Ferrer split with Javier, his long-time coach, at the end of the season. He's still my all-time favorite player. Hope he's very happy for the rest of his life.

The reality is that the guy has made more money than he ever thought that he would. He probably has more money than he ever thought he could. And he has probably played much longer than he ever thought he would.

Good on him. He has taken a victory lap around the tour to say goodbye to his fans and to give them a chance to say goodbye. He did it his way and is going out on his terms at a good time in his life. He has probably very well prepared himself for the next chapter of his life.
