If Murray wins Wimbledon 2015, will he be the favourite for USO 2015?

A Murray with momentum can really do some damage, as we have seen in the period 2012-2013. A disappointing loss to Djokovic in the AO final might just be the thing to spur him on in a potential final against Novak on home soil. Should he come out victorious in such a meeting, or one against another contender, he will really have the wind of confidence in his sails.

How likely is it, 1st, that he should become a Wimbledon champion, and 2nd, that he would be the favourite at Flushing Meadows?

Not the favorite, but a co-favorite along with Novak.

Probably. He'll have been the most consistent top performer in recent months in that case. And it is difficult to label favourites based on the US summer hard court events (such as Montreal and Cincy) because we've seen some people do poorly there yet make a deep run at the US Open (or win it, in Murray's case in 2012)

He and Novak would be co favorites for US then. He goes toe toe with Novak on faster HC historically and won in 12 final. Novak has been disappointing for 1 or another reasons in NY.

The concern would be a mental walkabout thought after the thrill of winning at WO again. We've seen this quite a lot from him.

Yeah I have to agree with the sentiment here. I understand it's sometimes fun to talk about hypotheticals, I just really look at this as wanting to know what's for dinner when you haven't had breakfast yet ;)

I think Wimbledon and USO are two slams which suit Murray's game well. He's improved a lot over the past 18 months after the surgery, and it looks like he is virtually where he was pre-surgery in terms of his tennis level. He will be the main rival for Novak from now, I guess.

I personally look forward to the murray/nadal qtr. Neither can seem to beat anyone ranked high than them lately.

IF he wins Wimbledon then he'd more than likely be on at least the same line as betting if not ahead of Novak for USO15 immediately after Wimbledon. Obviously there's a couple of M1000's in Canada and Cinci which could impact USO15 favoritism though.

I think it would really depend on how Djokovic exited Wimbledon. If he was to lose in the final to Murray, I don't know. Not to discredit Murray but I'd probably still give the edge to Djokovic for the US Open. However, if Djokovic flames out early then Murray would look a lot better as the favourite.

I think the winner will be either Murray or a surprise, first time Wimbledon winner.

Out of Djokovic, Federer and Murray, the Scot has the best astrology by far. But his solar return is iffy. So, expect Murray or some surprise like at RG.

Juan and FranzuaDubal predict Murray but Maxi predicts a surprise winner...
