If Serena is able to be #1 coming out of the 2017 Australian Open

Should Serena still be ranked #1 after the 2017 Australian Open a year from now (without losing it in between) she will actually catch/surpass Navratilova for weeks at #1 (and now be roughly 45 weeks behind Steffi Graf). For all the criticsm she has gotten for her time at #1 she is certainly rectifying that problem now. That is without even mentioning all the time someone else was ranked #1 (eg- Safina, Azarenka in late 2012, Jankovic) where everyone considered Serena the best player in the world and the true #1.

Did anyone consider Wozniacki or Safina the best tennis player in the world at the time they were ranked #1? Yeah exactly.

I would be a bit dissapointed if that happened and I am a huge Serena fan. I would like to see some up and coming talent emerge before then and I think it will. I do think Madison Keys is a future #1 actually.

I would love for Serena to break Graf's time at #1. To do that she needs to be #1 at the end of 2017.
