Western media hates Djokovic. But he remains very popular in China, india and in countries where Western media can't influence people..

Has a head of state ever congratulated a tennis player for their records ? I can't seem to remember this ever happening.
But Djokovic is "hated" compared to Fedal, only in Soho, or Camden Town.

I suppose when the president of a country with a population of 1.4 billion congratulates you on twitter, you must have some fans right ?

What's the connection here ? is he sending novak some of that gluten free PED's hidden in gluten free indian curry ?

It is more like a goodwill message towards people of Serbia wishing them on Novak's victory. I am sure she (president) doesnt follow Tennis and secondly she is only a namesake head of state, the most powerful person in India is the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

U r right. Her background is anything but sports or any interest in sports. I'm pretty sure the tweet was done on instructions from prime minister who is an avid follower and congratulates every big abd small achievement of India's sportsperson. Since djokovic is foreigner he gets it done through president.

Right, the PM must have told her to get it sent via her office staff. Obviously this is a congratulatory message to the people of Serbia since they know Novak's success is a big deal of prestige for people of Serbia, so this is more of a bilateral thing between countries than actually wishing Novak. These politicians are always thinking of their votebank and such things, they dont care for any sportsmen.

Too much ado about nothing . The president was in Serbia a few days back and on her return from the visit , she wants to play nice

Its a bit more complicated than that. Not necessarily vote bank, but getting young generation support doesn't hurt.
But during politics, they don't care about sportsperson if there is a conflict.
Just search for Indian wrestlers protest and you will get to know.

A former President of America actually said that his favorite athlete ever is Rafael Nadal. Pretty based imo

Western people hate Eastern people, so it‘s only natural that Federer is the most beloved tennis player in the Western world. Djokovic has his fans in the other half.

Well Djokovic is quite popular here in India. You can definitely visit Novak India YT channel to see some of the best compiled videos of Djokovic.

And to be a record holder and a champion of this rare feat - who wouldn’t like him. It’s like not liking success and hard work and “never say die” attitude. :)

It is in the tweet. She was recently in Serbia.

I am not sure she knows anything about Djokovic other than his tennis. India is the largest vaccine manufacturer in the world and enforced a very strict Covid regime. More knowledge about him would have given her pause.
