Fedal bros, it's time we have a talk...

Now that the dust has settled and Novak Djokovic has cemented his place as the unquestionable, undisputed GOAT of tennis we must revisit history critically to understand how we got it all so wrong. You see, fellow fedal bros, I too was blind. I was blinded by Big Nike. Blinded by the paid media and phoney puff pieces put out there. Blinded by the racism of Western journalists who couldn't stand to see him succeed. Blinded by my own subconscious biases and prejudices. However, seeing the Serbian Superman lift his 23rd grand slam trophy last week made me realise how wrong I've been all this time. How the Nolefam, for all their flaws, were so very right.

Nolefam... I take it all back. I apologise. I was wrong. I will say it right here and now: Novak Djokovic is the greatest, most accomplished, most charismatic, electric, athletic, skilful athlete to have ever graced the earth. He is without equal in all aspects. On and off the court. His accomplishments are a testament to the great nation of Serbia and all its people. I can only hope that one day my children will have such a hero to look up to. I envy you.

Novak is a man who deserves to have his story retold. We must move on from the villain arch that the western media cabal has tried hopelessly to foist on him. To know Novak is to love Novak. Nick Kygrios, his one-time biggest hater, is now his biggest fangirl, often fawning over him on social media and asking if he can have dinner together. His love for him only grew after losing a Wimbeldon final to him. A testament to the intimidating power and presence of Djokovic and his ability to enfeeble his enemies. There are countless anecdotes from fans and players who can attest to the presence and love that Novak brings when you're around him. He is a pure man. A man whose only flaw is being too trusting of the evil forces of the world. Forces that tried to use him as a punching bag. But not any more...

As the greatest athlete to have ever lived, Novak stands unrivalled. He is the equivalent of Michael Jordan if he were competing with Kobe and Lebron at the same time and still won 6 rings. He is Lewis Hamilton if he won all his titles despite competing against Ayrton, Schumacher, and Verstappen in equal machinery. He is a man who has re-written the history books and shown the world that good can triumph over evil.

Like so many of you, I have been struggling a quiet struggle. One we all felt in our hearts and stomachs, but which we tried our best to deny. Greatness was always synonymous with Roger Federer. Greatness was the rivalry with Nadal. Greatness was the records that would stand the test of time. Their epic matches were to be ones we could show our kids and say "I was there" or "I saw that" that "These two men were the greatest tennis players ever. I wish you were there too, son.".

As the Great Serb steamrolled his way through record after record, doing so like some sort of tennis T1000, I felt a growing sense of urgency to maintain their greatness in my mind. But if the achievements weren't the greatness, what was it? The movement? The "grace"? Intangible qualities that were impossible to use as a measure for greatest to begin with?

On Sunday I couldn't go on with my denial and delusions any longer. I've tried too long to protect my ego. Andy Roddick was right. Novak Djokovic is the greatest of all time. I wanted those moments of seeing Fedal win be moments I could tell me children about as the time I saw the greatest of all time. It pained me to think their records could be broken so soon. That they would become mere nobodies. As irrelevant as Pete Sampras is today to an up and coming junior. If I could have my time again I would have been cheering Earth's mightiest warrior on loudly and proudly, enjoying his rise like the Nolefam, not worrying and fretting like the insecure Fedal bro I used to be.

I see now that Srdjan too was a victim of a maligned press corps. If I should ever be so blessed as to have a son like Novak, I too would surely be overcome with passionate moments such as his.

The thing about Novak though is that he is not just an athlete like Federer or Nadal. Novak Djokovic embodies the highest qualities of virtue and selflessness. Novak was there for the world when it needed him most. He refused to bend or break in the face of COVID. The ball lady at the 2020 US open was his Judas. He was tried, persecuted, and deported in a Christ-like manner, only for his resurrection this year, coming back to win it all.

Novak promotes clean eating, mental toughness, love of God, and what it means to be the ultimate sigma male. Federer on the other hand is a corporate stooge, only there to sell you sneakers, champagne, and watches. Yes, he had a nice backhand, however tennis is about so much more. Most importantly, it's about winning, and Novak has won the most. Novak is the best. The greatest.

Novak, I'm sorry. Novak, forgive me.

Amen.

To anyone reading this who might still be on the fence, heed these words: It's better to be born again at 23 than at 30. There's at least one calendar grand slam for us to enjoy together and I hope you'll join me.

Oh, man, you are so ruthless.
Yeah, we all feel it's true, but please, don't be so cruel. After 20 years of building of sand fedcastles it's simply not fair to destroy it in a such brutal way.
Not like that.
Don't leave them totally hopeless. Show sympathy. Let them to have any hope. I don't know what. Maybe magic, maybe aura, maybe fans' love, maybe intangibles. Anything.

He's trolling. He doesn't mean any of his post

Like what you like, you can respect someone without being a fan and you don't have to feel shame for that. I've never been a fan of Novak, and never will be. That doesn't mean I don't admire and respect his tennis. He's just not my cup of tea as a person, that's all. We can't all like the same things

Trolling or not what op said is true. Especially about Srjdan.

Be like Novak to make your father proud. Believe in your values. Fight for them. Stay grounded and don't become arrogant due to media hype. At the same time don't be timid and proclaim what your goals are. Never be afraid of anyone that you need to duck them.

Be bold yet not arrogant. Djokovic defines this balance better than any fedal bro can claim their own player could.

Wow, just wow.
Novak doesn't just have Serbian fans BTW. I am Greek, and know plenty here (I play tennis), who adore him. He was the underdog. We saw through all the Fedal media campaign, with the fakery and cringeworthy "friendship", that made soccer moms and people who thought consumerism meant social status gush.

We saw it from close to the beginning. Primarily 2011. And were happy to see it. Djokovic saved tennis.

Not technically correct as many would indeed dispute it. He would likely top a poll, but not everyone judges these things on GS numbers.

It's the same with football. Messi would probably win a poll based on stats (I don't know?), but a lot of people would still go for Ronaldo, Pele, Emile Heskey etc and have their own reasons.

This. This is what separates Djokovic from his other rivals. This. Those with a keen eye saw this. Whether you believe in God, a God, the God, Allah, or the 12 Gods of Olympus. It is the ultimate sign of humility.

It is the ultimate sign of saying, "I may play tennis, I may be great, but my strength comes from something that makes my achievements pale in comparison".

I remember seeing an interview with him, where he revealed what he carried in his tennis bag. I think it was on the tennis channel. He was still young. Pre-2011. And in it he pulled out a small Byzantine icon of his patron Saint. I am not a religious man, but my heart and mind dropped to the floor. This kid had an almost pure heart. How many other players do that ? Not afraid of being met with any cynicism. It takes one of two things to do that. Cahoonas and or innocence. I think he pocesses both. I can't tell the difference anyway. Perhaps they are the same thing.

Kudos again to the OP.......he said things that needed to be said.

Edit: It has come to my attention that the OP might be a troll. If that's the case, kudos to him/her. They fooled me. But I still stick by 100% of what I said above.

Op tried to semis sarcastically troll nolefams but we are pure hearts and turned it around.

Everyone's opinion is significant. We all have one vote and we all matter.
At the end of the day though anyone can say someone’s the greatest to them . Some might say Murray is because he’s their favourite player to them or best British player ever. Some love krygios due to his antics, etc.

Only way to settle it is with the facts and who’s won the most and holds most of the records.

This is god-level trolling of course!
Trolling or not what op said is true.
So his post was sarcastic ? Didn't seem like that to me.
To me it doesn't really matter whether @RedClayFan really means that or not. When I agree with his particular sentence I don't consider that as 'falling into a trap', it's just my agreement.
OP can be the biggest anti-Djokovic person in the world, but when he states certain opinion about tennis I decide whether his statement is true or false.
Simple as that, if he's (as you call it) trolling, to me his authentic attitude is not important. Like @nachiket nolefam mentioned above: "trolling or not, the sentence is true".

There are several ways you could 'settle it', not all of which would involve facts and figures.

Some people aren't even interested in 'settling it'. Some people are quite happy to believe one person is the greatest and just let other people have their own idea and leave it at that.

My post was serious. It's just hard for the fed fans to comprehend why one of their own might all of a sudden change sides when faced with insurmountable facts and evidence.

It's not about falling into his trap, it's about playing his game which all who are taking him remotely seriously are doing.
