Is Djokovic in better form right now than at this stage last year?

"Djokovic said he was feeling better than he did at this stage last year and that he was ``surprised'' by how well his preparations were going ...``Usually at this stage, you are trying to find your speed on the court, agility, just dynamics of every stroke,'' Djokovic said. ``But I found it already, to be honest, right away after the first match ... And what do we have to gauge his level? A meaningless exo where the players show up just to receive a fat cheque?

Yeah, he must be playing the best tennis of his life compared to last year...

He's playing a level of tennis that very few people have seen in their lifetimes. I won't be surprised if he has a Nadal F.O 2008 like AO 2012.

Call it meaningless if you like. Federer would never allow himself to win only 3 games no matter what event he's playing. Especially not against Djokovic of all people.

Of course, now, he *has* to win the AO, or the next threads on this board will look like "Did Djokovic peak too soon?", "What possessed Djokovic to peak at an exho?", etc.

It would probably be a Federer, Nadal, Murray, or Tsonga who beats him at the AO. Can't see anybody else doing it. Maybe Del Potro if they were to meet in the first week. Although that's still unlikely.

If he wins the AO without dropping a set like Federer in 2007, yes.

easy for fed in 2007 when basketcase roddick admitted he
was out of control and pathologically obsessed with his losses to fed.
djoker doesn't play top 3 players who tank slam matches.

They can't meet until R4.

This is a random question for this topic, but it's somewhat related to Djokovic. Is there a website that keeps track of advanced tennis statistics, such as average groundstroke speed in a match, % of UFE's on forehand v backhand, etc? Was just curious how Djokovic's groundstrokes were looking relative to how he was hitting towards the end of last year. It definitely seems like he's got some of that velocity back.

How could he recover so fast. He took time off after the US Open....he looked shaky. During WTF he looked shaky....a few weeks later he looking like 2011 Noley again.

Can Nole win a slam without dropping a set? AO would be his best chance.
