Well....Ferrer did beat a healthy Nadal in the Masters Cup in 2007. So it's not like he can't beat Nadal at his best on hardcourts. Even the hardcourt matches which Nadal won against Ferrer were very heavily contested except for the one where Ferrer retired at 4-3 in the first because of injury. But they're 3-3 head to head on hardcourts.
