Is it possible to be a “Fedal fan?”

Is it possible?

It is very possible because they actually respect and like each others. They are friends. If they hated each others it would have been harder to be a fan of both.

I'm a Fedal fan, I just hate Federer fans which makes me gravitate closer to Nadal.

In all seriousness, I probably wouldn't call myself a Fedal fan, but I would definitely be a Federer fan if Nadal didn't exist.

@StANDAA are you a Fedal fan or are you faking?

I want all of them to be in the semifinals of every tournament and have many more Nadal/Djokovic or Djokovic/Federer finals which I really enjoy watching. All I hope for is an epic match with great tennis whenever any of them play each other. So, either I am a Fedalovic fan or I don’t like any of them enough to be a true fan of any of them. I don’t root for any of them like I used to root for Sampras when I was younger. Maybe I’m a fan of good tennis.

Fed fan here, but I think it's very possible to be a Fedal fan because their careers are so intertwined.

(but I think it's NOT possible to be a Fedovic fan! Not possible at all, lol)
In 2011 it was possible, what changed?

Fed fans probably loved Novak after Wimbledon 2018. That quickly changed the following year o_O

Is it zerosum like if you like A you must dislike non-A?? Also, you like tennis and they are great tennis players. What's there not to like them?

i play lefty.. so i always followed left handed players with particular interest. that did allow me the perspective to also then root for righties. and that is how i became a Fedal fan.

Look up on Reddit, 80% of that site thinks Fedal hide deeply romantic feelings for each other and are now having dirty sex in Rafa's boat :D.

I feel like calling yourself a “Fedal fan” is like saying you‘re a Yankees and Red Sox fan, or a Barcelona and Real Madrid fan. It just doesn’t work.

Pick a lane and stick to it
Da f!

I take great offense! Dont be jelly because the two greatest are impossible to like. Djoker just cant compete.

I am, I don’t get why is it so hard to understand. I of course prefer Fed by a lot, but Rafa is my second favorite, despite me occasionally trolling him.

Nadla cried when Fedre won rg

PR stuff.:sneaky:

Federer is very honest and hardly hides his true feelings. Nadal OTOH pretends a lot on court and pressers. Fake guy. Still since Laver cup started they've been acting nicely to look as good friends - but that's purely for sake of money. I don't think Federer considers NADAL his friend. He is guy of really high self esteem (arrogant) - he doesn't like someone who can challenge him on court, let alone liking someone challenging his standing in history books. He does not hate Nadal though (true in case of NOVAK).

That's the Ira theory of fandom (refer the Ira-Ian debate on Essential Tennis about this). That works in team sports. Tennis is not a team sport. If you have watched tennis for a long time, it is very difficult not to admire both players. Most Fed fans who profess to hate Nadal are either vicariously living out their glory through Fed's achievements or have the image of 2004 Nadal permanently stuck in their brain. So they can't see that his serve and backhand have improved, that he comes to the net more often and volleys well and even his slice is pretty handy. Some great drop shots too, especially this RG. I do dislike the time wasting tactics but even that has gotten better as a result of USO's shot clock system. Players generally aren't wasting as much time as before. I could complain about MTOs but Fed did it at AO 2017 and didn't even pretend to be injured so...

You can't be a true fan of both, not possible....however you can be a fan of one and like or respect the other. It's like asking if someone can be fan of Liverpool and Manchester United, or a fan of Barcelona and Real Madrid.

As a Federer and Nadal fan, I feel it has been a privilege to watch these two play. They have produced the greatest match of all time at Wimbledon 2008, and it shows Nadal's strengths the fact that he was able to push Prime Federer to 5 sets the year before at Wimbledon 2007.

As a Djokovic and Nadal fan, it has been a privilege to watch these two legends play. Their dominance together at the top of the game took tennis to another level of physical prowess and mental tenacity. Their 2012 Australian Open final was the greatest match of all time, just insane shotmaking, unrelentingly high quality, and both players showing a willingness to do whatever it takes and suffer for the title. It was an incredible experience to see Djokovic fight to his absolute limit and triumph over his great nemesis, especially after his brave performance in defeat at the US Open 2010 final.

Even though Federer has the most Grand Slam titles and dominated the longest, Nadal and Djokovic will always have a special place in my heart because they made tennis worth watching for me.

Your quote sums up why the Swiss Fans didn't like Nadal from the beginning!
:sneaky:

PS: You do not know Spanish and, ergo, "his true feelings".

I'm being honest here. ;) I love Roger for his game but I equally admire his personality. I like that arrogance. It suits so well for player of his talent. Not just Tennis talent he has got every quality to be successful in life. Throw him in any field he will come on top. His only drawback is too high emotional quotient. He thinks too much that ultimately puts pressure on him.
