Curran (Scottish), 9 lbs, 21 inches. I week old today. Home birth, in the bathtub, no problems.

The training begins.

Visualization, concentration, meditation and prayer to play his best tennis:

Look at that follow through:

Unfortunately, it was originally called a winner on match point, but was overrulled and he challenged but shotspot confirmed that it was out. Needless to say, he was very upset!

We will continue to work on all aspects of his game.

Meanwhile, my step boy wins 2nd and 3rd rounds (after 1st round bye) of Long Beach Designated, without losing a game.

That was my spring break!

Congrats Granitechief, thanks for sharing the pictures. I'll say, though, I'd like to see that follow-through extend more (Robert Lansdorp style) instead of coming across the body so quickly. You need to lay the solid technical foundation very early, and not let him cheat to the extreme grips/style. :p

You named him Curran?

That's my surname, i've never seen it used as a first name before but what can I say? Great choice!

And of course, congratulations :)

Congrats, you have to put a racquet in his hands as soon as he can walk. "No dinner until you win your match!" ;)

Wow, that's great GC. Congrats on the new addition to the family. So, when will training begin? I say teach him a one hander and have him be one of the only kids at 10 years old with a one handed backhand.

cool, good photos, and he already has good tennis instincts. One hand backhand or two? Lefty? Net player or baseliner?

Lol it would yeah. My family are Irish and i've always thought of it as an Irish name. If I did turn out to have some Scottish in me I think Jonny would never let me forget it :)

Quickly whack a K90 in his hands before he can walk. It's a nice light racket to get him started at about 2 years old.

then add some lead until it gets to about 470 swingweight when he's about 5. that'll be nice and easy for him.

World number 1 here he comes.

Once again, thanks for the congratulatory wishes.

The name Curran is basically Gaelic, which is composed of 3 main language groups, Irish, Manx, and Scottish, and it generally means hero or champion.
