Actually, not queer at all, just contrived. It does not look natural.
She is not a fav because of this - like she is packaged or something. Maybe I am wrong, and time will tell.

Most likeable #1 since when? Most likeable tennis-wise or personality-wise?
For me there's been much more likeable #1s in history overall. If its women only, I preferred Steffi Graf. Then there's Seles, Hingis... Ivanovic seems sweet personality-wise, but she annoys the hell out of me on court. Her vocalization sounds like a cough or a hiccup over and over and I just want to pat her on the back to get it over with. Her fist pumps sometimes seem a little forced too. More a mechanic to keep herself motivated than a genuine celebratory thing. Compare to Hewitt when he gets fired up to do one. Not sure I'd say that makes it a fully shallow gesture, but she does it so often I cant relate to it.

It is so true, she is so sweettt, at least that is what we perceive. The only thing i think is that ( talking in my name ) i like to see also a little bit of sassy mood, tough temper, i don't know, it is something you want to see too from your sport idols : like Jordan, like Nadal, Like Tsonga......
But still we love Ivanovic, she is an adorable girl. Hope she will find a good husband too, and will keep acumulating success in her career.

Its actually a fair and objective assessment of her fist pumps. No one is freaking out. If you disagree, you disagree. Its no big deal either way. Her vocalizations anyway is what really annoys me. At least Maria's dont sound so airheaded and you can tell its coming from an aggressive source. Not saying she isnt a tad loud though.

Hingis was the most arrogant, rude, narcissistic and disrespectful #1 the tour has ever had. I don't know what appalled me more: her behavior on court (worst I have ever seen against Graf at FO) or her post match interviews (which included mocking Mauresmo for her sexual orientation or racial slurs against the Williams sisters). Hingis would be at the very top of my list for most unlikable #1 ever.
Agree with what you said about Hingis. Though in the latter years she did mellow out a bit.

True about Hingis. I think her later years clouded some of my memory on that point and I'd remove her from my list too.

I'm not sure about "like-ability", but she does, as countless others have said, have an undeniable "cute factor".
I think Justine Henin was the women's #1 I liked the most, even if she wasn't overwhelmingly "likeable". She went through all that with her husband and family and still went out and was the best in the world. Just a very solid, mentally tough player whose career I really admire.

i think she's picture whoring too much. Maria Kirilenko is so hot. She's the hottest on tour and yet she's so shy and intelligent. Love that girl.
