I used to have it then found out my mom trashed all my old VHS tapes . I was thrilled to find it on you tube. I love the music in the back ground .. The Cars.. Shake it up . Also the sheer brilliance of the McEnroe technique.. Probably have to admire the robotics of Lendl as well

What a travesty! No one records audio over STING!.. Man, he RUINED IT!.. I also have this, because I found it at an old video store. I went back to rent it, and the store was going out of business! I bought it for like $5, and transferred it to DVD. If I can find that sucker, I will repost it, sans the annoying musak masking the great music he dubbed over! Humans, I never know what they are thinking of!?!

OMG you are a legend for posting this video. I remember as a young kid/teenager hiring this from my local video shop and watching it over and over and over again...
Now I can save this and watch it later, and maybe show my nieces & nephew if they ever start playing.
Oh how tennis has changed since 1985.

they may have dubbed it over for copyright reasons..

Actually youtube was being a real pain about music issues for a while. But now they are much more lax about it. I'm sure when the video was first posted it was taken down or threatened because of the music issues. There were lots of videos taken down because of that a few years ago. Now I'm sure it will probably be fine he just hasn't put it back up. So hopefully someone will post it up with the original music. I remember this video from back in the day. No idea where my tape is anymore but had great music.

That would be tremendous. I wore mine out back in the day - lol. Would love to have access to a great clean version with the original songs. Fun stuff.

The OP started this thread to discuss this video being on YouTube (and has been for a year already)!

Besides, I don't even know where my VHS copy is anymore (probably in storage somewhere) since I haven't owned a VCR in many years.

I had the video, my son used to watch parts of it before all his hs matches, you just gave me a great flashback thanks Chris

what's interesting is john yandell has talked about how mac himself used the video in 1991 to get his service motion of old back...
apparently over the years he was developing some hitches..

Not sure about recently, but in the past Yandell aggressively responded to clips from The Winning Edge posted to youtube, etc with directives to take them down ASAP. He's the copyright holder, so his call, but seems to me clips posted by him or others with info/links to where a DVD could be purchased would probably result in DVD's being purchased. Unless he lost the rights over time to music in The Winning Edge, or perhaps even just to sell it period, I don't understand why he hasn't made a DVD available. Perhaps if he comes across this post he'll shed some light on all that.

There are some links to clips listed here on Yandell's web site, but none seem to work...

The Winning Edge was and is a classic - shame the content is so hard to come by now.
