Careers demand time and attention and so do children. The vast majority of people do not have enough of either to pursue both a career and raise their children in a way that aims for their good.

Yeah you are right but my point was that having a carrer and children does not promptly make you are bad parent and does not make you selfish. If people are able to do both which is possible like you said i see no problem with it and not having a carrer also does not make you are immediately a good parent.

I am cautious in this regard, because I generally have a more pessimistic view of humans. I'd rather err on the side of career limitation than err on the other side, kids are too important.

Obviously being a good parent is not directly correlated to not having a career, I'd never make that simplistic of a claim.

Careers demand time and attention and so do children. The vast majority of people do not have enough of either to pursue both a career and raise their children in a way that aims for their good. I tip my hat to the parents who do manage to handle both, but they’re the absolute minute exception. The others are outside the house more often than inside and usually get nannies or something to raise their burdensome kids so that they can pursue self gratifying careers.

That's a bit harsh but probably more true than not.
