this is true, i played an 18s open and i played a kid who was probably rated 2.5 or 3.0 and i was done with him in 15 minutes.Juniors you have such a huge variety of skill levels; while in Adults, you can play levels based on similar skill levels.
I find Adult tennis much more fair.
Ihate, those lotto shoes are the best !!!
Many Juniors I have seen are more behaved than many Adults on the court. !!!!
SV, those shoes fit like a glove and really grip the court.
I am gentle on my shoes and they can last me 9 months to a full year.
another reason i like the idea utr based tourneys
similar ratings exist for chess players, and table tennis players... why not tennis?
and there are 12 yr old girls that can beat grown men in tennis right now... ask me how i knowAs I recall, there are chess tournaments specifically for certain younger age groups but there's nothing that prevents a young un' from entering an adult tournament [ie Bobby Fischer, who won the US Open at 14]. It can be unnerving, though, to play an opponent who needs a booster chair to reach the board who then proceeds to demolish you while staring out into space for the majority of the time.
I would prefer an NTRP rating, independently of age but purely on level. I think it doesnt exist in this part of the world.
How interested would adult tennis players be in a global rating system, if the system was able to provide seamless ratings across all age groups? And... how would this help you enjoy tennis more?
Universal Tennis
I dont care about age groups. I care about rating of level. I am 46 now and I feel no physical difference with an 18 years old. I would like a global rating system independent of age.
However I can understand some Seniors prefer age groups.
