It has really progressed, 95% thanks to all of you.

This is when I first picked up a tennis racquet after years in April: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqeNfNBQdeo

This was taken a few months later - I think in May : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IgtK7uXaK54

Yes, I still use the same racquet. I think I've improved immensly, and have a lot of work still to do. I'm not sure where I would rank wrt to NRTP, but I have a lot to work on.

Unfortunately, things will be halted until next September as I have knee surgery on 18 Nov.

But in the meantime, thank you.

And Bungalo Bill, can I have an e-mail address of yours? I'd like to inquire about something.

Thanks!

EPH - That's a great great improvement. I had to double check to make sure the first and last guy were the same - seriously.

You really changed up the balance and motion all the way up to the striking of the ball. It looks so much better. Smoother, the leg hitch is gone, very nice.

I see guys with the hitches and other things, that are never able or have given up trying to correct. As you have found, it's hard work. Great job.

Wishing you smooth sailing, a speedy recovery, and an ultra-positive result concerning your surgery. Hopefully the Tennis Channel and the Aus. Open will help you through your down-time!

Yes, you have improved. But I will still push to continue to work on fluidity. ;)

On the email, yes, under certain conditions. I will think about how to give it to you.

Thanks. I don't own a television set. What kind of package do you need to get the Tennis Channel in the US? When I was living with my parents in Greenwich, we didn't have the Tennis Channel and they had all the channels imaginable. But that was 15+ years ago. (It wasn't a dish, though).

Are there any way to download matches (I don't mind paying for them) online? I've looked, and have downloaded some, but would like to watch more.

I'll be spending the 4 months post-op to really get fit again, and just focus on that.

It's on the list. Depending on how my back feels that day (and after about two service games), I can begin to feel a bit better. I know now exactly what I need to do to really complete the last part of my serve - the "jump" - and am excited about doing it when I'm allowed to play tennis again.

Thanks. If you want, I can give you my e-mail and you can send me a msg.

Okay, it works! Fire away.

Ah, I stand corrected.

And Eph, I am not "derailing" this thread, it was just a harmless comment.

It just seems every thread I make in here changes its course from one sentence I say and I never get the advice I am looking for, unless I keep bumping my thread.

Happens constantly.

I got several, was it on grips? If not, no I havent received it yet.

Heh, figures you got bombarded with mails (just proves my point further on people who read threads but don't put any valuable input into the original post).

No, I sent it as soon as you said it was OK to send through there. It was on instruction, and your current USTA status. (I don't want to say more publicly)

If you didn't get it, tell me, I'll resend it. Or send me an e-mail christhelinuxguy at gmail dOt c0m so it doesn't end up in your SPAM folder. Then I'll e-mail you from my regular e-mail address which is private.

Your slice serve looks wicked but you should progress on your form as the months goes by! :)

Thanks for the compliment but on which video do you see the slice serve?

I hope to develop a good kick serve, and get the final part of the service motion down.

Good luck with surgery and way to stick with it.

Thank you very much. I hope I listen to my knee surgeon this time and stay away from ALL sports until September. I've already cut out the strings from my racquets so I lose that temptation and my skis have been left in Switzerland.

I hope when I come back to tennis, I can REALLY improve. I also hope that I can lose weight through the recovery of this surgery (which is VERY difficult) because I notice a difference in my tennis serve at the lower weight now (and of course in day-to-day things), and would like to be as healthy as I once was.
