KING/KOKK is oddly similar to a 3.5 vs. 4.0 USTA dubs match

Kyrgios has done more for doubles in one week than the last 50 years combined.
Martina? Bryan Brothers? Mac/Fleming? All Zero.
Full packed stadium for dubs is unheard of.

Look at this illustrious list of nobodies!

This is oddly similar to a 3.5 vs. 4.0 USTA dubs match
I'm not even sure KING/KOKK knows how to play correct doubles.
KING/KOKK is just overpowering their crafty weakling dubs opponents.
The 3.5 maniacs just serving huge and winning points outright on the serve
Or crushing forehands right at the net man. All low % tactics.

Live and die by the brute force of the 3.5 anti-doubles tactics.
If the 3.5 wins, it is by brute force pace and quality of strokes. The "wrong" way to win dubs.
If the old man 4.0 wins, it's because of strategy and positioning, despite hacky strokes.
4.0 dubs specialists angling away volleys.
Old man dubs creating lots of pressure by crowding the net.
But, the young guns either blasting them off the net or making low percentage lobs.

A pleasant surprise in all this? I never knew anything about Kokkinakis other than he banged your girlfriend, but he's a smart solid player.
Very enjoyable to watch! Brilliant shot selection. Like Ross from Friends, KOKK is the perfect straight man sidekick to volatile KING.
He is the ideal dubs partner, plays smart, and comes through on the big shots. I love seeing how much fun they are having. What a treat !

Arguably doubles has an awkward place in the tennis world -- with singles events consistently taking precedence in both prize money and coverage -- which makes the attention and adulation that the duo are garnering all the more impressive. The Australian wildcard duo have whipped fans into a frenzy throughout their unlikely journey into the semifinals of their home grand slam,...at a packed Kia Arena on Tuesday.

Kyrgios is pure box office !
First time in my life I woke up at 5am to watch a tennis match.
BRING IT KING/KOKK !

This press conference shows the dynamic of this yin and yang duo.
They complement each other perfectly, with mad mutual respect.
Childhood buddies making a miracle wildcard run,
knocking off the best dubs teams in the world,
and having a bunch of laughs the entire time.

When I play doubs, I fall into the latter category, as I rarely hit hard, and prefer to win by crafty volleys and positioning. But I like seeing contrast of styles in doubles.

Look at the sheer fun Kyrgios is having while knocking out the #1 seeds

Listen to that crowd roar in the 3rd set.
I have never heard a louder more fired up tennis crowd!

Unfortunately, your strokes are such that you will never be able to hit hard, even if you wanted to. So, smart move playing within your ability.

I never had strokes. Unless you consider the serve or the overhead a stroke. I sometimes hit overheads quite hard.

NGL, the win brought tears to my eyes!

I simply love this team dynamic.
They fit each other like a jigsaw puzzle.

KOKK is the ultimate dream dubs partner.
They came up with the big shots when they needed to.

A few points different and this could have gone 3 sets.
The beauty of tennis.

I hope they keep playing dubs.

We're just gonna let this random dog violinist talk to our resident racquet Frankenstein like that? This place has gone downhill.
