Klip Legend vs BDE Performance in a hybrid

Had the opportunity to try BDE Perf m's coupled with Isospeed pro Control crosses in one of my Becker11Mids.

My usual setup is the Mojo setup (Klip Legend Coated 17 m's and Isospeed Pro Classix x's)

I really liked the BDE setup. If someone wants a more traditional ball feel, this would be a great choice. it's a softer setup than the Mojo, but the strings dont move all over the place like they would with an all gut setup at the tension I was using (relative tension = 56).

This setup doesnt give you the poly type of spin that you get from the Mojo setup..you get a more traditional ball flight.

So someone who has shorter strokes and doesnt generate a great amount of batspeed may really like the BDE setup. it is a bit more powerful. For someone looking for a crisper lower powered ball feel with enough batspeed to make the ball dip before the baseline, I suggest the Mojo setup.

by relative tension, are you referring to the average of the crosses & the mains? mains @ 52 + crosses @ 54 = 106/2 = relative tension of 53?

I have them string @ 56 mains and 62 x's because they recommend stringing the Iso 10% higher stating that after the initial tension dump the tension stabilizes

NBMJ, i think you misunderstood my question. basically i'm asking, how do you calculate "relative tension"? i calculated it as the average between the mains and crosses, making yours 59.

with mains 56 and crosses 62, how do you get a relative tension of 56? what is your formula?

by relative tension i mean actual tension which differs from what my cheesy drop weigh stringer sez. also as I said, the tension of the Iso dumps then stabilizes so you string 10% higher

i had try the BDE and tonic instead of legend...
i did find the BDE and tonic more powerful than MOJO's set up..
love the MOJO's set up...
strung 55/60 on dnx-10 mid and bb11 mid....

It's the best setup I've ever used. There isnt a downside to it and many upsides. Think the key is to get the tension tight enough so the strings wont move around. In my case, just tight enough.

With my K90s I've tried your setup with the 'new' Iso Speed in the cross and find that they still lose about 10% after stringing. I agree that it doesn't move around much but the feel is slightly muted compared to a full job of Legend. When the Iso Speed started to fray it deteriorated rather quickly (gets very loose) and the crosses broke at ~5 sets. Since then I've switched to full jobs of Legend 17 (~8 sets) and now 16 (~10 sets), for the added durability. Have you experienced similar results?

I've moved on to Babolat PSL with a 18x20 pattern and strings move even less. I'm planning to try another hybrid cross to see if I can find a better compromise. I don't like paying $26 every 10 sets. Have you tried PSGD 17 in the cross?

An elastocross whenever you see a fray point helps to keep the stringjob going. veryones' string life varies depending on how they hit the ball. You might want to try IsoControl as a x as that's a thicker guage. If anyone knows of a x that gives the benefits of the IsoPro Classic with better durability, I'd like to hear about it. Appreciate the feedback. I've give the PSGD 17 a try on my next string job and compare feel and durability.

In my experience PSGD moves around like crazy when combined with natural gut. Something with less movement will extend the life of your stringjob. If you tried the newer Isospeed give the classic a whirl as it may make quite a difference.

my stringing machine is on repair now and thus i've had local stringer string mine at 62# mains(gut) and 66# cross(iso). (my frame is head flexpoint prestige).

initially, i felt too powerful but pretty crisp. but then after 5 hours of playing with it (over 1 week time), it felt pretty bad (too loose).

i am trying to figure out what could be the factor. maybe my local stringer did not string tight enough. anyway i have a question:

When I string up the MOJO I usually do it the night before I play. Most of the tension loss is in the first 12-24 hrs. So if I let it sit over night its pretty much ready to go.

I tried the MOJO in an 18x20 pattern & did not care for it. It seems (for me) to work/feel better in a more open (16x19 16x20) pattern.

Other hybrids I like ( in order) PAcfic poly force tough gut , Klip Detonator, Wilson Champions choice. Each has its pluses & minuses.
