Korda best next gen chance at Wimbledon?

Maybe not this year but in the future, Korda looks the best on grass of the next gen. Smooth strokes, easy power, strong serve, hits pretty flat. Just routined RBA, a good grass player.

What do you think?

Yes I am impressed with the way he plays and I just watched him and he did well on grass… I wouldn’t want my favourite players to draw him in the early rounds at Wimbledon…

Really like Korda's game, but I think Tsitisipas will have greater success on the grass. At least given where their games are today.

Tsitsipas can have a lead of 6-0, 6-0, 5-0, 40-15 and choke by playing 20 mph shots in the middle of the court. Time to move on to someone else and we will see how Korda evolves.

Even Nole has lost with a two set lead. Only once, I think, but it still happened.

I am really excited for Korda, and I am looking forward to seeing him at all the Grand Slams. He seems to do well on all surfaces so far, which is great news. Until he reaches at least a quarter though, I like to hedge my bets. Maybe it will happen here...:)

Sorry I don’t trust Medvedev, Tsitsipas, Zverev anymore to me they are at this point in the category of Nishikori, Raonic, Dimitrov, Tsonga… They have talent to win some good matches but when it comes to win a slam they are not mentally strong enough even if the opportunity presents itself on a silver plate. Even Federer at 40 years old would have a chance to win Wimbledon more than Tsitsipas, Medvedev and Zverev combined. Maybe they will prove me wrong in the future but right now I will bet more on someone like Korda…

RBA for a top 10 player has some embarrassing losses this year. Radu Albot at the AO, a qualifier at the FO, Isner at his hometown Madrid Open

That's totally fair. I think Federer always has a chance at Wimbledon, just like Rafa always has a chance at Roland Garros, and Novak will always have a chance at the Australian Open. They are just..that..good.

It's funny, I remember watching a match when Zverev was very young. He had match point or maybe he was up 15-40 or something against Rafa. He gets this sitter of a volley and he puts it into the net. He places his hands on his hips and looks at his box. Ever since then, I've never had a lot of faith in him. Will he win a Slam? Probably, but I will not hold my breath until he does.

But Tsitsipas? I don't know. I think he has that spark, that je ne sais quoi. Although I have been wrong before.

Opelka can servebot to a title someday as he did in junior Wimbledon.
What's with this idea that super tall dudes are good for Wimbledon? Their hold% barely goes up on grass and they basically flip tiebreaks or get destroyed by a capable player.

Tsitsipas is the easy whipping boy today but we should not be mentioning Korda and him in the same breath, they are miles apart in talent and accomplishment. Also, the age gap is only two years.

His game is much better suited to fast hard courts or grass than clay, IMHO. I'm looking forward to what Korda the Younger can do on the surface as well. Looked quite comfortable in the highlights. No idea how that will translate into playing on the green clay of Wimbledon, though.

So watching the Korda match today, I am reminded again how old school his game looks. It's great, very smooth as @beltsman said. If it weren't for the hair I'd never know we were in 2021, what with RBA's Ken doll hair cut.

The only caveat I have is that many of these players who have family in the ranks are often at an advantage over their peers. Mental toughness, court awareness, and great footwork can be taught. And Sebi, like Casper Ruud has great foot work and court awareness, and based on his steady play against a veteran like RBA, mental toughness.

The one problem for players like this is that when you get down to finer details, the stuff you can't teach, they have risen so far with their other advantages and talents that they are caught off guard. I think its great that he is working his way through the challengers. It let's him test his mettle.

I just don't know if we'll know if he has these intangibles until he plays one of the big 3 again.

It might be still too soon for him to start having great results, but along with Musetti, he's the youngster with greatest touch. It looks like everybody is trying to hit the ball as hard as they can, and when someone comes along that actually has a feel for the ball, we start watering our mouths. He is showing great potential, let's see what he can make out of it.

movement is a major factor on grass........he who moves the best on the surface to go with the expected range of shots will have the best chances at that slam.........

Not sure if he has the stamina yet. He won his first tournament then had nothing in the tank for his first round French match. Seems like when he's fresh he's a top fifteenish player.
