BTW the difference b/w roger & nole points is decreasing very quickly

500(rotterdam)

200+320=520(Dubai)

640+640=1280(IW)

Total = 2300 points difference has been reduced since AO.

Fed needs to better his Rome, Wimbledon and Cincinnati results. Also, he should play Estoril this year. If he wins, let's say Estoril and Wimbledon, that would be 500 and 1640 points respectively. Add a Rome and Cincinnati semi, and it would total to 2590 points.

^All that is true if I have my understanding of the rankings correct. If not true, feel free to correct me.

Likewise, regardless of Federer improving on last year's results, much of the gap could vanish if Djokovic has a shock loss even in the semi-final level at Wimbleon or the US Open. He's got 4000 points to defend at those alone. Federer has only 1080.

At the remaining three slams Djokovic only has a 1250-odd points improvement headroom available (i.e. if he won the FO and defended the other two). Federer has a 3700-odd point headroom available.

At the slams:
-Djokovic defends 4720
-Nadal defends 4400
-Federer defends 2280
-Murray defends 2160

So, Federer and Murray have a great shot at surpassing the top two.

Come on Roger, win Wimbledon, earn 1640 shots, do well in other tournaments and become number one by year end

Roger might be favoured more at Roland Garros than at Wimbledon, though his current game seems perfect for grasscourt tennis. He's hardly breakable (winning 92% of service games) and returns big serves like a god

What I was getting at was the 0 could be replaced by a result at shanghai, so I didn't really get it wrong ;)

I hope Fed plays MC and gets to the finals, put some serious pressure on DjoDal.

I don't know what you mean. If Fed plays in Shanghai this year, his result will replace his 0-pointer, period. No other tournament result will replace this 0-pointer.

If Fed doesn't play in MC this year, his MC points from last year will vanish, simple as that. If Fed chooses to play MC this year (he won't), he can gain points if he does better than last year.

That's just what I'm saying :)
