Let's Talk Some NBA 2016-17

Dubs played so so, nobody hitting shots, except Dray getting his in scoring.
Final score should have been Dubs by 25, but the second string Jazz could really drive and shoot well. Maybe they are combined BETTER than their starters.
Look for Hayward to have a bigger game, as he's gotta score at least 20, being all star and all. Then again, Thompson didn't light it up either.
Durant is the difference maker, able to create his own shots at will, which can lead to the Dubs standing around and spectating if it goes on longer than a few possessions.

Just sad to see Toronto play the way they've been playing
Star DeMar off his game, and Lowery's injury dooming any chance of entertainment.
Are the Cav's really that good?

Nah the East teams just suck dick like always. Cavs defense will get absolutely exposed as soon as they play a real team(aka not in the East).

Really?!

Lonzo Ball’s Signature Shoe With Big Baller Brand Costs $495 And Up To $995

Really it's more like $495 up to $695(obviously still absurd either way). But the $995 is for the shoe signed by Lonzo and comes with a display case.

Harden is the Most Valuable to his team. Doubt the Cavs would make the playoffs without LBJ. Leonard is great but the season is too long for the Spurs

Normally dig your bball talk but here I must strongly disagree. Take a gander at this:

http://www.foxsports.com/nba/stats?...&time=0&pos=0&team=0&qual=1&sortOrder=0&opp=0

Now I understand these defensive ratings aren't foolproof - you know something's wrong when an overzealous shot swatter like Dwight is ranked over such a complete stopper as Kawhi, and even I can't second the choice of Westbrook as the 12th-best defender in the league - but as you can see Harden isn't even listed among the top 50 here (59th, for the record). And neither is LBJ (75th). Granted their playoff numbers have gotten better (both of 'em are actually ranked over Leonard right now, which again calls this rating system into question), but this is due in no small part to the small sample size and we all know the MVP award is for the regular season. Plus it was painfully clear in the first round who had the worst supporting cast and also who had to shoulder the most workload out of the four candidates, as indicated by Westbrook's crazy postseason +/-.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Russ is the worthy MVP of this season, and the only guy who can seriously challenge him is Kawhi. Not LeBron. And emphatically not Harden.

The Dubya starting lineup of Tim Curry, Klay Aiken, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Dennis Green and Roberto Duran were too much for the overmatched American Music Genre, with all five getting double digits...mission accomplished in game 1 for stand-in coach Bobby Brown. Will Duke Snider be able to rally his team around Spencer Haywood and Rudy Colbert? I will report on game 2 on Thursday with help from Rudy's bro Stephen.

It's a sweep. For the Jazz to steal a game Hayward will need to score something like 40+ and Iso Joe will need to nail all the clutch shots. Possible, yes, but not probable.

And now that TP's out the Spurs will probably get rolled, too. Speaking of which....

Yeah, same here. It's quite pathetic how far away the East is below the West. Ditto the rest of the East from the Cavs.

Am I the only one who's so sick and tired of these superteams in the NBA? If all we presumably wanna see is streetball they may as well bring in the Harlem Globetrotters for good measure. Seriously, Steph and especially LBJ have gotta be the luckiest (future) HoFers in bball history. It's comical how the rabid LBJ groupies still push this Kobe-had-Shaq canard, when it's actually their hero who's had quite possibly the easiest roads to championship out of all the GOAT candidates. (Sorry, Ronaldo, but I seriously doubt the current Cavs fail to make the playoffs at all without LBJ, at least not in the East.)

Jazz will win the next 4 straight. And not shoot a single free throw in any of those 4 games.

Roberto Durant used his hands of stone to put the ZZZ's to sleep in their tabernacle, scoring 38 body blows to their solar plexus and nudging @r2473 one game away from his offseason as SLC's head cheerleader.

So both the Dubs and the Cavs sweep their opponents in due course. Of course. Pop & Boys, you're our only hope now.

Please win, Wizards! With Wall, they have a chance of taking a game or two from the LeBronskis. Boston will get broomsticked.

Yes, my homies are awfully difficult to put away at home. And Wall may well be the quickest guy in the league. If he could improve his range a bit more he'd be close to unstoppable, cuz he's stronger than most his size and can play pesky D to boot.

Great game in SA with the Spurs pulling out the OT win on a Ginobli block of Yhe Beard's attempted tying trey at the buzzer. Big Shot Danny Green carried the Spurs in OT after Kawhi rode the pine due to a bad ankle injured late.

Houston wasted a great effort trip dub by Harden...33/10/10 but the accompanying 9 Sara Lees hurt in the end.

After tonight the Beard is officially out of the running for MVP (yeah I know it's a regular-season award, but still). Seriously what a pathetic outing by a guy who's probably the most potent offensive force in the NBA.

Still don't think Pop & Co. can take 4 out of 7 against the Dubs, but with Kerr presumably out of the series it could get interesting. Obviously a lot will depend on Kawhi's form/return.

The home team wins in this series. Washington was Swiss Cheez Whiz last night. Backs to The Wall now.

The away teams have been outright horrendous in this series. My homies really needed #5 to advance. Doubt they can steal the next two straight.

MVP has to be Lebron in front now, COUNTING the playoffs.
Kawai can win it if he blows doors on the Dubs, scores 30 each game, defends like Fury, and repeats against the Cavs.
Likely LeBron is most valuable.
Nobody on Dubs, it's an interchangable equation there.
Surprised to see Spurs up 20 on Rockets, in Houston.

With Nene out, only Capella can defend the rim in the paint, and it stands to reason that a team with Pau, LeMarcus, David, and Kawai should be able to score inside.
That's why the Dubs would rather play the Rockets. Spurs have BIG dudes.
6'11 Pachulia can't jump, 7' McGee can't jump at the right time (plays like a 16 year old), David is tough but can't jump, McAdoo can play solid D but is only 6'9", with 7'3" wingspan, Looney is gone somewhere, and rookies don't play well in post season.

Is it safe to say the census of LMA haterz will dwindle overnight? What a performance...almost Magic level when KAJ went out in the Finals clincher in '80!

Don't be fooled by LBJ's gaudy #s. If you're the ace on a superteam who's been playing 42.4 MPG against pathetically outmatched minions in the weak East (which of course tends to be omitted from the gushing media coverage) you're supposed to average a near 3-2. Put MJ or Kobe in the same shoes and they'd probably average 40+ PPG.

As we just saw from Westbrook's flameout that kind of workload is bound to catch up. LeBron is not younger nor has his usage rate been comparable (not even close, actually), and even at their peaks I'd put Russ' stamina higher or at least equal. Plus the Cavs' shaky D will likely be exposed against the explosive/disciplined O of the Dubs/Spurs. The real finals of this postseason will probably be the next round between these two WC powerhouses.

This validates Shaq's theory, pound the Rockets inside.

With Nene out for the season it was a smart play. Now the money Q is, will it be as effective against against the Warriors? The Spurs absolutely need the most of our their bigs to have a chance.

Let's go easy on the Magic comparison :p, but yes, LMA totally redeemed himself after his stinker in #5. Like I just said SA will need him to keep up his aggression against GS.

I said almost...Magic lost a HOF center and moved a position to replace him; LMA lost a probable HOF PG and a worthy candidate for season MVP and had to produce from his normal #4 spot or they were going 7. The Nene void also softens the impact. Still, the hate must subside from tonight's performance. It's taken two full seasons but he's officially a PopSpur.

Cavs are 4-19 as of 2/26/17 since lebron returned. Wow what a superteam supporting cast he has!!!

Meanwhile kawhai "best player in the world" leanord sits and the Spurs put in their best performance of the playoffs on both sides of the ball. Wow he really carries that team!!!!

The Spurs also struggled against a 7th seed missing two starters and playing a senior citizen plus some d league scrubs at the wings. If lebron did this he'd be a choke artist that needs more help but since it's kawhai he's the best player ever!!!!

Kobe put up 28/6/5 and 33/5/4 on 50/40/77 and 46/36/92 his two years without a hall of fame big in the playoffs. That's so much better than 34/9/7 on 56/47/73!!!!!!

Not sure I saw that much "hate" towards LMA. He was indeed subpar in #5 but bounced back nicely last night. Of course he's go back to being public enemy #1 after another stinker. :p

So these same Cavs have been sweeping their opponents but you bring up their regular-season records in a desperate attempt to prove your point? Hope you're trolling.

I'm sure you were saying the same thing about LBJ at the end of game 1 or 2 in last year's finals.

The Spurs also struggled against a 7th seed missing two starters and playing a senior citizen plus some d league scrubs at the wings. If lebron did this he'd be a choke artist that needs more help but since it's kawhai he's the best player ever!!!!

You're trying too hard now.

So you acknowledge Kobe was lacking talent back then unlike your boy this season. Let's compare the rest of the roster, shall we? Here's Kobe's (2005-06 - next season's is pretty similar):

Andrew Bynum
Brian Cook
Devean George
Devin Green
Jim Jackson
Aaron McKie
Stanislav Medvedenko
Chris Mihm
Lamar Odom
Smush Parker
Laron Profit
Ronny Turiaf
Sasha Vujacic
Von Wafer
Luke Walton

And LBJ's:

Kyrie Irving
Channing Frye
Kyle Korver
Kevin Love
Iman Shumpert
Tristan Thompson
Edy Tavares
Richard Jefferson
James Jones
Kay Felder
J.R. Smith
Deron Williams
Derrick Williams
Dahntay Jones

Not even close. Maybe LBJ's better #s have something to do with the fact that his superior supporting cast makes it harder to defend him?

And FYI your boy played 37.8 MPG this season with a mere 29.8% usage rate, vs. Kobe's 41.0 MPG with 38.8% in '05-'06. Last time LBJ came close to Kobe's #s (in '14-'15, when he had 36.1 MPG and 32.4% during regular and 42.2 MPG and 37.6% after) he posted 41.7%/22.7%/73.1% in the playoffs. Maybe the amount of workload does matter? You know, kinda like Westbrook's eventually caught up with him this season?

You're welcome for the free tutorial.

Voting was finished back in April lol. This has absolutely ZERO effect on his MVP chances.

Again, MVP race was over a long time ago. Westbrook has it in the bag, and Lebron will be 3rd or 4th(rightfully so as its a regular season award).

The cavs have lebron in the playoffs, they didn't when they went 4-19...... are you being extra stupid today? Lebron off the cavs = top 3 pick. Kawhai off the Spurs = playoff team

While we're at it let's compare a whole elimination game on the road to the last 4 minutes of a blowout. More moronic logic brought to you by nonp.

Lmao I know you have no response since you just look at boxscores. Kawhai doesn't have the offensive responsibilities of lebron because he isn't even in the same stratosphere when it comes to playmaking and running an offense. Lebron on the Spurs sweeps Memphis especially if old man carter and Wayne selden are guarding him

My boy had melo and rose this year. Not sure why you're listing the cavs roster. Well now I know why you have a hard on for Westbrook, you're in love with overrated statpadding chuckers.

No way the Cavs with Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love in the EAST end up with a bottom 3 record. You honestly think that team is somehow worse than the Lakers or Suns? Not even close. I also SERIOUSLY doubt the Spurs make the playoffs. Their top scorer would be LMA, and they would lose both their best defender as well as the dude that carries their offense. It's possible because Pop, but you're saying they'd be better than Memphis, the Thunder, and us with Nurkic.

Don't necessarily disagree with your overall point, Lebron is on another level, but don't think either of those things are true.
