Let's Talk Some NBA 2016-17

Voting was finished back in April lol. This has absolutely ZERO effect on his MVP chances.

I know the voting is already over. Just saying, Harden doesn't deserve the award after his stinker last night and especially considering his defensive liabilities. Averaging near 30 pts doesn't mean a thing when you give up 25 every game.

The cavs have lebron in the playoffs, they didn't when they went 4-19...... are you being extra stupid today? Lebron off the cavs = top 3 pick. Kawhai off the Spurs = playoff team

While we're at it let's compare a whole elimination game on the road to the last 4 minutes of a blowout. More moronic logic brought to you by nonp.

The only one with a dunce cap is you. The simple point was that regular-season records don't always translate into the playoffs, which you're either too stupid to grasp or too dishonest to accept.

And FYI LBJ has missed 27 games since his return, and either Kyrie or Love was missing in almost half of them (12). Doesn't sound so impressive now, does it?

Lmao I know you have no response since you just look at boxscores. Kawhai doesn't have the offensive responsibilities of lebron because he isn't even in the same stratosphere when it comes to playmaking and running an offense. Lebron on the Spurs sweeps Memphis especially if old man carter and Wayne selden are guarding him

Oh look, the poseur thinks he can get away with his infantile tantrums by trotting out platitudes about LBJ's "playmaking." And even his kindergarten insult is another trite inanity. Tell us something new, Einstein.

You can engage in your inane and useless hypotheticals all you want. Just three more tutorials for you, since it's clear you're just another one of those data dummies: 1) Kawhi's PER in the Memphis series was 37.3 compared to LBJ's 30.3 against Indiana (that's only 0.1 below your boy's career high, despite carrying a far less offensive workload), not to mention the highest PPS and WS/48 in playoff history, 2) LBJ almost certainly doesn't average 34/9/7 with the Spurs because Pop wouldn't allow any individual player such "offensive responsibilities," and 3) none of these stats captures the wide gap between the two guys in defensive capabilities.

My boy had melo and rose this year. Not sure why you're listing the cavs roster. Well now I know why you have a hard on for Westbrook, you're in love with overrated statpadding chuckers.

I know you're a hapless Knicks fanboy, which probably explains the unintentional entertainment value of your pea-brained efforts.

You really wanna talk "statpadding" after I educated you on another NBA cliche you dug up? Again tell us something new or stop wasting our time. Here's another one for you: the "statpadding" Westbrook's +/- in these playoffs was a whopping 62.8. None of LBJ's in any of his seasons so far comes close to that.

And for gawd's sake it's Kawhi, not Kawhai. At least try to get the spelling of your bete noire right if you wanna keep passing yourself off as a decent armchair critic.

No way the Cavs with Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love in the EAST end up with a bottom 3 record. You honestly think that team is somehow worse than the Lakers or Suns? Not even close. I also SERIOUSLY doubt the Spurs make the playoffs. Their top scorer would be LMA, and they would lose both their best defender as well as the dude that carries their offense. It's possible because Pop, but you're saying they'd be better than Memphis, the Thunder, and us with Nurkic.

Don't necessarily disagree with your overall point, Lebron is on another level, but don't think either of those things are true.

It's a stupid hypothetical (if an obviously popular one among know-nothings like him), because every team would play a different system sans their MVP candidate. The fact that the poseur pretends to know what kind of an offense/defense the new team would run when even a veteran coach would struggle to find the right balance shows how little he actually knows about the game.

But yes, I do agree with you that these Cavs would still make the playoffs without LBJ. See my counterpoint above.

I don't often pray for a blowout when a game goes solo on the schedule but Wall & Co. need some confidence to season the necessary victory. I thought they would get that bounce after Game 4. Do overs do happen...correction in order or Monday night will be the SSDD.

Another case against Harden:

Seriously, I can't imagine any of the other MVP candidates (certainly not Westbrook) pulling this shi-ite. The guy's soft as hell.

Was thinking about attending the game tonite (admission right now is a pretty reasonable $60)... but got hit with a last-minute appointment. :(

Still shall get my remote pom-poms ready!!!

Anal spelling bee contestants, you get the point.
Every team has proven they can win without their MVP candidate, and every team has proven they can lose with their MVP candidate, so how important is the MVP?

Only for OKC and the talking heads. Btw, the Dubs have two MVPs in their starting line-up. Any other team do this?

I guess we'll be talking about Zsa Zsa's slide step underneath Kawhi's bad wheel for the rest of this series. For the record, Leonard himself isn't blaming Patchouli Oil..."he was just contesting the shot".

Bad bad for the NBA, and us, that Kawhi turned his ankle at least twice in the 1st game of Conference Finals. Obviously, bad that Tony got hurt too.
Good for Dubs they came back from down 20+, like their last game vs Spurs, who had Kawhi in OK physical condition.
Could Klay and Patty be more OFF their games? Hardly predictable there.
Good LaMarcus played pretty well the whole game. Hated it when he'd play good at the beginning of series, then take a backseat in the latter games.
This series should go 6 games, but need Kawhi to play unhindered by injury.
What's with Stef Curry's right arm injury that needed 8 minutes of constant attention by the trainer? He airballed his first shot when he came back.
Did Dray commit more turnovers than he scored in points?

Green only had 3 tov, 9 pts. When asking about teams with 2 or more MVPs meant like Magic & Kareem or The Big O & Alcindor. Hard to believe Baylor & West never won.

Maybe not bottom seed (little bit of an exaggeration) but they're not making the playoffs. Kyrie is a nice scorer (like melo) but he can't elevate his teammates or be a playmaker like other PGs. Love who knows he had nothing in Minnesota but he hasn't proven he can take on the #2 role when lebron sits.

Kawhai carries the scoring but he's not a very good playmaker yet (which is why i can't put him up there with curry lebron and Durant) pops system gets open looks for the other Spurs. I think Parker ginobli green Aldridge mills Anderson Simmons gasol and dedmon all healthy with pop as coach is enough. cant see the nuggets mavericks or Pelicans taking the last spot over the Spurs.

Kawhai will never say it was dirty but that clearly was lol. Hard to feel bad when Bowen did it his whole career

Difference in Bowen and ALL the Aussies is that ZaMan has no footwork, weighs 260, came running over and jumping to contest the shot, so had no idea where he was landing. Remember, ZaMan was facing the BASKET, his whole foot turned towards the basket, and his heel was landed on, not something anyone would ever try to do.
Bowen and all the Australians face up the shooter, then get close during the shot and give no room to land.
Results are the same, but remember, ZaMan also took Durant out with his HEAD. Za is a clumsy, slow, uncordinated big man, and he plays just like it. Don't blame him for lack of athleticism here, he's a klutz and everyone knows it.

Wiz have zero chance, Celt's have little chance.
I suspect either the Spurs or the Warriors would be favored over the East team.
Too much rest can be just as bad as not enough. Too much, you might start slow.

So the C's party three times in three days: win Game 7 on Monday; then comes the Billy King Beer Pong keg party at NBA HQ on Tuesday evening; finally on Wednesday they welcome the well rested defending champions to the Garden for Game 1 of their own execution. Two outta three ain't bad.

Also, if the Spurs decide to take out a Curry, a Klay, or a Durant, I have no problem with that.

David West would destroy the toughest player on the Spurs, plus one cohort. He owns a boxing gym.
Iquodala has already been taken out.
Looney's back flared up again.
Curry has his right forearm worked on constantly on the sidelines.
Durant came back 2 weeks ago from a knee injury.
Dray still can't run or jump full speed.
You may surmise what you wish about Klay's complete lack of scoring.
McGee has a lingering knee injury, so can't jump at all.
Livingston was held out of 3 games just 3 weeks ago, from his thumb and lingering knee injuries.

Not buying this at all. Zaza is definitely dirty but the guy wasn't even facing Kawhi and it looked to me like the extra steps where just him trying to stop. The guy is 280lbs and not exactly nimble.

Also I normally like Pop, but he needs to shut the hell up. Constantly defended Bruce Bowen's defense(even telling Bowen to "continue doing what you're doing") when Bowen is 10x dirtier than anyone playingi n the NBA today.

And good friend is from LA. Hating how smug he is that there's no way the NBA will let the Lakers fall out of the top 3. Please prove him wrong NBA

Unless we get the right GM and ownership allows him to run the franchise, it doesn't make a bit of difference whether we're first or fifth. We also get #25 from Toronto as part of the Ibaka trade.

That's really all I care about is LS getting to pick 4th.

Tom, I think your worst case scenario is Magic winning #2 taking Lonzo and for his dad to immedailt say its timie he played in LA. The magic are then forced to trade him to pennies on the dollar.
The Magic should probably just not draft Lonzo. They should also trade Hezsonja to the Spurs because that seems to be his destiny.

Yeah but you can't give the guy a break for being clumsy. He is a clumsy player, everytime he goes in for a rebound, he'll either take himself out or knock somebody else onto the floor. But being clumsy is not an excuse.

You don't close like that, nor should you take away a shooter's landing space.

Completely agree. It should be a flagrant, but so should Horford's play earlier in the playoffs, and Aldridge's play on Steph just a few minutes later. Curry has people run under him shooting threes far more than anyone else.

I have no issue with people wanting Zaza assessed with a flagrant or something, but the rule needs to be applied equally, and the people calling for Warriors players to be injured need to realize how often people run under shooters and are lucky to have nothing bad happen.

Dude, Puchulia is a big clumsy dude. He took out Kevin Durant, his own teammate, falling backwards. That was good for the Spurs.
You obviously don't play basketball, so ..... to contest a jump shot, you have to jump towards the shooter. When you jump at the shooter, you risk brushing some part of his body (FOUL).
If you're going to blame someone, why not blame the player on the Spurs team whom Leonard landed on? Who was sitting on the sidelines!

So, did you blame the Warriors for "taking" Kyrie out of the playoffs with the broken knee cap?
I know that Olylinik foul on Kevin Love look somewhat deliberate, but did you feel Kelly "took out" Kevin Love two year's ago?
They say "turnabout is fair play".... or something like that. Zsa took out Kevin Durant for 26 games. Obviously, he's no candidate for ballet dancer of the year.

The hell? That was a self inflicted injury. Show me a video of someone taking out his knee. Nice argument. Dwyane Wade used to have migraine issues to the point where he couldn't play, but let's go blame the other team too.

Gordan Hayward had food poisoning, must be the Warriors.

You, of all our poster's, should know basketball.
I think it was the Wiz game, first minute, Gortat throws Zsa down, Zsa falls backwards into Durant's left knee, either the head or the shoulder hyperextending Durant's knee. They called it a bone bruise and a sprain, out 26 games.

Dude, you gotta STOP sometime, or would you rather a 260 lbs clumsy center end up in the first row and destroy 3 spectators. Zsa was looking at the basket, his feet turned around, and K landed on his heel......after landing on his teamates foot to further sprain his ankle, which was already hurt from the Houston game.

I do know basketball, that's why I'm calling you out on the Kyrie Irving's knee cap thing. Where's the video showing someone else took his knee out?

And what are you trying to say, that Gortat purposely threw Zaza cause he knew Zaza would fall into Durant's leg? Because he KNEW right? And that's the same as taking away a jump shooter's landing space?

Keep BSing man. Can you find me the video of someone breaking Kyrie Irving's knee cap now? I'm dying to see it. I'd like to see proof after someone makes a claim.

"Proof" in the pudding..... Kyrie drives on Klay, kneecaps bump, Kyrie is out for the rest of the playoffs.
Stuff happens.
I"m not defending Kelly Olynic.
I"m not defending Klay.
I'm not defending Zsa.
I'm not saying injuries don't happen in normal basketball, or most sports. They do. I just don't blame the character's involved.

I"m the one defending Zsa and the other player's, saying STUFF HAPPENS, and that most player's play hard, and STUFF HAPPENS.
I"m sorry Kawhi got hurt, but he got hurt in the Houston series, and he also landed on his own teammates foot twisting his ankle yet again. It was not Zsa who hurt Kawhi.
If you watch the playoff series two year's ago, you'd SEE Klay and Kyrie bump knees as Kyrie started his drive to his right, left knees bumping.
Say Chi, you're so stupid that the old saying applies to you .... If a tree falls in the forest, and nobody is around to see or hear it, or feel it, did it really fall? That applies to you.

Zsa, if he didn't take the stopping step, which happenned to be facing the basket, not Kawhi, would not have stopped his momentum and would have landed past Kawhi and into the stands, injuring a few spectators, since Zsa is bigger than the average human, and going with some speed.
I know it's hard to figure out, but to stop a body's momentum, one has to put the stopping foot out.
