Long Island RR to USO

I saw on a US Open Tips show on Tennis Channel that the best way to get from Manhattan to USO is to take the Long Island Rail Road. The show wasn't very descriptive on how exactly to do this. Can anyone help and is this in fact the best way to get there? FYI My hotel is in Mid-Town Manhattan.

Depends where your hotel is - I would usually take the subway - 7 train if it was me. Can catch from Grand Central and other stops. But not sure if there is a difference or special service during the US Open

You can also take the Port Washington line (I think) of the LIRR from Penn Station to the Mets-Willets Point station

Also, I know that the 7 drops you off practically at the front door of Billie Jean. Where is the LIRR station in relation to the complex?

Thanks for everyone's help.

Right there. You walk off the platform and through the gates. 100' away.

It is closer than the parking lot.

I usually drive from Long Island. This year for the 1st time, I am taking my kids to AA Kid's Day. The Mets are playing in the evening so its my understanding that Citifield/ Shea lots will not be available. In your experience, do you think it would be easier to take the LIRR Port Washington branch with a 4 year old rather than drive?

Thanks!

Take the LIRR.

I either drive to Port Washington and park in the station, or I park in the lot in Manhasset with Filene's basement/Waldbaums and walk up the street to Manhasset station. But not as many trains stop at Manhasset.

I may see you there.

I have several meetings in the AM regarding the Donnay USA deal but I think I'll be able to stop by around noon.

Great. If I can ass out of work early I will go watch qualies for a bit today.

But we are def all going Sunday. Probably in the afternoon, then playing after.
