Luxilon 4G, 1.25mm, 16L good strings?

Hi Guys, i bought a Prince Original Graphite 100 sometime back n d owner allowed me to choose whichever available strings i wanted from d shop, except for natural guts. So i chose d most expensive one, Lux 4G n actually loved d strings for its golden color, that it snaps back into position easily, it retains tension better than most poly strings, has reasonably good spin potential n control n feels plush when TW reviews say it is a stiff string. I also stringed my Yonex Ezone DR98 with Lux 4G n love how d racquet n string plays. I intend to string my newly bought used Angell TC97 racket with Lux 4G too.

Any Lux 4G lovers or haters, pls share ur experiences? We would like to read about them. Besides being more expensive n used by quite many pros, is it an over-rated string? Thanks for ur on-coming feedback! :):D;)

I think aside from tension maintenance it is a very average round, dead, low powered poly.

For my money I look elsewhere. I have been enjoying Weiscannon Silver String recently.

Do you break it or have arm issues ever?

It's a great string...if money is no object. If it is, try pro supex blue. Tension maint., spin, and power all there still but much cheaper.

It's my go to cross string with NG mains. Hold tension until it finally snaps the gut after 3-6 weeks. Slippery enough for the gut to slide and snap back.

I prefer alu power by far over 4g. If I'm buying lux, it's always alu power.... Maybe alu power soft.

4g is my current favorite string. I have it strung in my tt95s. I'm still playing around with the 1.3 and 1.25 to see which I prefer.

I am in the camp that says it plays pretty stiff and dead.

I also like alu power but it dies so fast I would have to string a couple sets each week.

I have used poly strings all along....Topspin Cyber Flash 17, Solinco Tour Bite 17, Solinco Tourbite 16 soft, Gosen Sidewinder 17, n now Lux 4G. Reason being d control i get from poly, have not tried NG due to its cost, haha!:) Lux 4G still cheaper than NG.

I don't think i am a hard-hitter cos i hv never broken any strings before, even on my Wilson PS95 Spin (16x15). I normally change strings after about 6 months (4-5 hours per week of tennis). More of a medium strength hitter. I normally play with 2 or 3 different models (brands) of racquets on different sessions.

I do get elbow soreness n slight pain if i play with racquets with a TW's stiffness rating of 66 n above. Seems like i am more sensitive to racquet stiffness than string stiffness. Lux 4G felt plush on my PCG 100 n Yonex Ezone DR98 as both hv RA of 62. So RA 62 or lower seems to work for me. ;)

Hi Daniel. What is d unstrung weight of your Prince TT 95? I actually intended to buy d TT95 but it is out of stock in Singapore. Not many people here selling their used TT95 either. :)

Instead, i bought a rarely available mint-conditioned used Angell TC97 with d following specs:

Unstrung wt: 320 grams.
Unstrung Balance: 305 mm / 12 pts HL

Quite close in specs though not exactly similar.

Hope you dont mind me butting in, I have a TC97 similar to your specs but I added some lead at 3 & 9 and some blue tac in the trap door. I also have hit with a TT95 strung with hyper-G from a friend. I can tell you the TT95 has more precision, lower power and more control, the TC97 has more power and spin potential though both frames have good feel.

No worries.;) So Solinco hyper G is good? 17 GA?

I think it will be better paired with a powerful frame to balance it, in the TT95 it felt lacking some pop since the frame itself is low powered. I would try Signum Pro Firestorm in the mid to low 50s on it if it was me.
