Dude definitely falls into the "kill 'em with enthusiasm" school of broadcasting to hide his gaping lack of knowledgable insights.
Between him and old Bingo Wings Chrissie ESPN has been relegated to the unwatchable category in my household.
She's no Mary Gorilla or Pam Shrill-ver I will grant you that.I Don't think Chrissy is that bad.
He is to show ESPN is an 'equal opportunity' employer for tennis. They could have hired Blake
I think he's awful. Haven't liked him since I first saw him popping up on ESPN during the slams however many years ago. He was there tonight when they had Rafa on after his match, and he asked Rafa if he thinks he's at a level where he can beat Djokovic/Murray. I knew the answer before Rafa even said it, and if this LZ guy knew anything about Rafa he would have known it too. Rafa's focusing on his next match and that's it. Sure enough Rafa says he's thinking about the match with Pouille.
Yes to this, and then he asked Rafa where he kept his gold medals and Rafa said at my museum at my Academy and LZ laughed at him and mocked the idea Rafa would have a museum, or an Academy. The guy got two questions in and both of them showed how dumb he is and how poorly informed he is about what's going on in tennis.I think he's awful. Yeah. I don't get it. I would assume he is reps the cultural angle in case a story breaks on racism or sexism since tennis has a exclusive history. ESPN is pumping social stories in sports in their new publication called the Undefeated. His presences is awkward on time on the stage. HE just ask Kerber how it will be to play a fellow lefty in the round of 16. ; /
I agree. I would get rid of the following talent: Shriver, Mary Jo, Chris Evert (too many conflicts of interest with their non espn interests).
Patrick McEnroe doesn't say anything interesting to lend to the telecast. LZ is under qualified he can go and pick one more just because in this fantasy we can....Who would it be?
Why is Equal Opportunity in scare quotes? Sports Journalists are still disproportionately White and male. It's a serious problem. There are tons of mediocre sports journalists out there and most of them are white men. Funny how nobody ever is concerned about whether they only got their jobs because of their white skin or their gender. He is to show ESPN is an 'equal opportunity' employer for tennis.
