How's the tennis scene at Vanderbilt. I was thinking about applying to law school there. Looks like they got some new courts in.

It's pretty strong. At what level do you play? I am friends w/ a professor of law who is about to retire. He was a college basketball player and is a VERY fine tennis player. Probably still a legit 4.5 s/v player even at age 66. ;) Best, CC

Prepare yourselves boys and girls, MR III is just around the corner.......

With our old pal Geoff arriving in town tomorrow night, MegaReview III is now nearly upon us!

This time we will be visiting the world of Head players frames and giving you some insights regarding how the Dunlop AG 100 stacks up against them.

Stay tuned here, as we will post a link to the new thread to guide our reading and viewing faithful. Oh, and be ready for yet another 'twist' to the reviews. ;)

Craig,

Sorry to interrupt but I had a question I thought you or one of your friends might be able to answer (posted a thread but a lot of times they seem to get missed).

I love the weight distribution and balance (8-12pts HL) of the Wilson 6.1 range (Classic, Hyper, nCode - not the Kfactor) because it allows me to drive through the ball on my groundstrokes (I hit mainly flat) but is still easy to move up at the net. Trouble is my arm cannot handle the stiffness of the racquets, nomatter what string or tension I use. Every other racquet I've tried that is similar in specs (12+oz, 8+pts HL) but a bit more flexible just feels incredibly flimsy and not solid enough for me to just drive through the ball.

Do you or one of your friends know a way to reproduce the weight distribution and balance of the 6.1 in another, more flexible racquet?

What gripsize are you?

I'll sell you one of my flexed out N90s, I have one that feels like it is going to snap in half every time you lay into a FH or serve :)

I don't know how, but my new friend Roman at **** Tennis does. :) Seriously, for a small fee he will match the balance, static weight, and SW of any frame you like to a 'reference' you provide. The only caveat-you can't go DOWN in weight, just up. ;) CC

I live in Australia so **** tennis is a bit too far for me LOL.

Seriously though - Do you think it is simply a case of matching the balance, swingweight and static weight?

I have tried to do that myself but not had a great deal of luck. The racquets seem to swing the same but they don't have the same solid feel. That was especially the case with the Volkl racquets I tried (V-engine midplus and t10 Generation 2) and the Wilson Tour range (nTour, H-Tour, kTour). Even when Id added weight and got them to what felt right with balance, static weight and swingweight (I could measure balance and static weight - one was in the 8-12pts range, the other was in the 12-12.5 oz range).

There is going to be some degree of variability between frames, that's inevitable. BUT if the frames are pretty close to start, it shouldn't be too hard to match them up. I'm not sure why one would feel less 'solid' than another. Did you string them all with the same string and tension on the same machine? Geoff, do you have any insights here? Best, CC
