I too have one left. Did not like the AVC model that came after it. The 265 gr model wasn't ba, but by the time it was released, I was using Gamma frames.

Had five of these BITD, when I broke strings

This would be so cool, if you could extend your racquet.5”. Then put it back
Exactly, on days when you want a little more control you would shorten it a little and then add more length for extra reach and power for your groundstrokes and serves on those days you feel you need a little boost. I don't think I ever saw Becker adjust his racket in the middle of a match though.

Maybe the retail version had the adjustment screw while his own racket didn't have one? Kind of like the cortex technology on the Babolat AD for Nadal. I think the retail has it while his does not (Only looks like it does).

Estusa. Not sure the model but it was baby blue with white checkerboard pattern.

You probably played with this model, the 1984 "P3 Turbo". Its lineage can be traced all the way back to the BBC "Big Ace", circa 1978, a very influential and forward-thinking design that spawned many derivatives over the subsequent decade and beyond.

POS yonex rq-60 and then a prince synergy “lite”. if i could do it again i would have grabbed aggasi radicals (in the early 90s) and prestige 630s

There weren’t any Prestige 630 until 2001 with the i.Prestige MP and Agassi’s Radical didn’t come out until 1993. From 1985-1990 what would you have preferred to have played with?

Great find. I bought that racquet in 1989 when I was a sophomore in HS. First time I thought I needed two sticks in case I busted a string. Played with that frame for final three years of HS and two years of college tennis.

Yonex Mingow I bought off the neighbor (still have it)

Emrik Vila 2000 (because my neighbor had one)

White Wimbledon HM88 (I smashed it)

Dunlops 200G, 300i, 400i

Had I existed back then I'd imagine some Prince racquet, I seem to always drift back to using Prince racquets.

Apologies for the 12 year wait :)

I noticed you had the Dunlop Borg racquet questioned by Breakpoint. Actually, there was a Dunlop Borg racquet, but I don't think it got past the demo stage and I doubt it was the one you were referring to.

It's a neat bit of trivia though and hopefully this link works:

Prince Jr. Comp
Puma Boris Becker Super and Winner
Prince Graphtech DB MP
Prince Ligntning 90

Coincidentally I just bought a Lightning 90 on Mercari a few weeks ago. Immaculate condition, except the DB is yellowed, and the grip was rotted. I strung it up and hit hit fabulously! Even one of my fellow teaching pros (who was born in 89 the year the racquet came out) had a hit with it and loved it!

Old thread, but I like it!

Yonex R-22, 23, or 27. Can't remember which one exactly. We had 2 of the 3.
Prince Graphite Comp. Slipped out of my hand on a practice serve one humid evening in Del Ray Beach & cracked the head.
Yonex R-50
Prince Graphite 90
Donnay Pro One
Prince CTS Blast OS

The first 2 were 'hand-me-downs' from my parents. I loved the R-50, but it cracked in the throat on an overhead (did not abuse it).

The CTS Blast was likely the near the end of 1990 as I used that frame throughout my D3 college years. Strung with good 'ol Ashaway Crossfire II at around 70lbs...

I just noticed the Yonex RQ180 had a total weight in the region of above 350g or so. Seems to be a tendencay to lighter rackets nowadays, with stiffer frames and technolgies compared to ...30, 40 years ago.

I started tennis in 89. Used a Le coc sportiff tso-s i think its name. Noah used it and the the bar verticle in the throat where the pog had it horziontal

Wilson Profile 2.7. Made me feel like Superman. Got to get me one again.

I played 16-18's using a profile. I use this one now with some lead. Mine are 12.2 oz, very stiff like the profile and all sweet spot

I just read about this Ultra 100S. Seems like a fun hit. Another Superman racquet. How does it feel?

I have like 8 of them :) (that much) The 16*15 string pattern took a while, launch angle is good though, i dont have to follow through as high but get same result. So i can hit through more, get the spin and the penetration on bounce.

Finding right combo in tension was annoying ( used to string ncode 95 at 49lbs), i like 59-60 16 poly mains, and 60lb soft cheap syn 15g cross. 17isnt bad on mains, but feels weird on the cross, i like a beefy 15g on open pattern.

Mine weigh 12.2 oz strung with 4 (2 cut in half) strips of lead tape covering 8 holes (12 oclock mid, so 4 on each side).

I had trouble serving with a lighter racket, i couldnt feel the head.

Hi Mate- how was the Yamaha Secret? Was that the white one which Sabatini used? Or there was a grey one used at one stage by was it Noah? They looked like beast of a racket, looked so solid and powerful. How did it play?
