so what happens to crandon park and the existing courts there?
The argument is that it is a public park and does not need the 50 million investment to bring it up to spec. Locals have a different belief about the real motives that I won't get into on here.
It should remain a public park. But having a stadium that big in the middle will be pointless unless they start hosting more collegiate and Jr. events. Problem is that the USTA training Center is right up the road in Orlando and is taking a lot of those now.
Have you played at the new USTA facility? I understand it’s in a direct flight path from the airport?

Yeah played there a few times. It is near the airport but I personally never had any issues.
Why weird? What’s wrong in trying to turn tennis players into rockstars? So weird for me.
What exactly is the problem?Typically American - a facility surrounded by an ocean of parking. Utterly lame.
...I understand it’s in a direct flight path from the airport?

Miami-Dade voters were close to 70% in favor of the expansion, as I recall. Miami-Dade should respond to Matheson's aggression and remove the Rickenbacker Causeway so he can concentrate on his alleged environmental concerns. He can get a good taste of the local climate at the next Rotary Club meeting without the Causeway.
Voters don't trump property rights and Matheson has rights as the person who manages the bequest and he did well to insist on a modest expansion, but IMG wanted a big expansion.
So we now have the gargantuan Hard Rock solution, but as almost all of us will not be attending does it really matter? IMG alone is at fault here.
Eminent domain.
It is already in the public domain, but managed as a bequest by Matheson.
In any event, eminent domain has mostly been used as a form of legalised theft, so if it were available I'm sure the crooks would have used it.
Let's be realistic, it matters very little if the tennis is played in an attractive place or a car park so it's better to preserve a beautiful and environmentally-sensitive spot.
So what part are your disputing?
Nothing, it was a very non-loaded question. I hardly care about disagreeing with you in the past.
Sadly, one does not simply walk into Wimbledon.Yep around the baseline. But I was referring to the greenery of the grounds/complex compared to the new Miami Open complex next year.
I can't be the only one that thinks this looks like heaven on earth. Sad day.
So, a pointless question! I feel honoured.

Arthur Ashe stadium is used 3 weeks a year and then closed. AA is inside a public park and visible outside of it too.
Arthur Ashe also hosts the US Open each year. Crandon will not be hosting much at all now.
and what is up with court color Teal ??? Ugly color, sickWhy weird? What’s wrong in trying to turn tennis players into rockstars?
