Seles has a new book coming out in April. Not sure how interesting it will be, but here is the synopsis from Amazon.

The title is :Getting a Grip: On My Body, My Mind, My Self (Hardcover)
304 pages by Avery Press.

The Amazon.com description reads:

Product Description
For those of you tuned into this past season’s Dancing with the Stars, it’s hard to believe that spectacularly fit former tennis champion Monica Seles struggled with binge-eating and depression.

Getting a Grip chronicles Monica’s success on the tennis circuit where, at age sixteen, she became the youngest winner in French Open history. For three years she dominated the tour, racking up eight Grand Slam titles, and charming the media at post-match conferences with her trademark giggle. She seemed unstoppable until a deranged Steffi Graf fan plunged a knife into her back during a match in Hamburg and turned her life upside down. Her injuries healed but the emotional trauma was deep. With no support from the WTA and her number-one ranking falling, Monica sunk into a depression. Hiding from the media and disappearing from the tennis world, she turned to food for comfort. She spent more than two years in seclusion, trying to fight off the fog of despair.

Back in the public eye but far from recovered, she continued the battle against herself—grueling six-hour workouts were sabotaged by secretive late-night binges—and she was assaulted with criticism about her weight from her trainers, nutritionists, and, most brutally, the press. Playing with an extra thirty pounds and devastated after losing her father/coach to cancer, she was never able to regain her former dominance on tour.

After an excruciating injury forced her to take time off from tennis in 2003, Seles embarked on her own journey. She abandoned the arduous workouts and the punitive diets. As she uncovered the painful emotional reasons that had been the trigger for her binge-eating, she finally found the peace and balance she had been searching for.

Monica Seles’s determination, amazing talent, and touching vulnerability make her story both incredibly human and inspiring. By sharing her own narrative, she hopes to motivate other people to take control of their lives and their own happiness.

I am sure the book is boring and full of whining and a "poor me" attitude like her other book. Second rate overrated player and boring self pitying women.

Why did you read her last book if you don't like her? Isn't that a bit of waste of time?

I can already picture it:

"I am so great, I was dominating when my main rivals were an old nanny Navratilova and a badly slumping Graf, look at me so amazing."

"I really won the U.S Open final in 1995 vs Graf, the line call was bad. I was robbed. Waaaaah."

"I didnt get in shape since I was so depressed. Waaah poor me. I was stabbed so I can eat all the donuts and Big Macs I want. Yum yum, dont chastise feel sorry for me because what I went through and let me eat the good stuff and be fat all I want and then talk about how I would win everything still if I wasnt stabbed and I am still the best without having to put in the work anymore, Waaaah."

"Steffi didnt really want to come see me at the hospital. She wasnt sincere, she wasnt a true friend to me. I dont like her anymore. Waaah."

Oh my God. So not only do you read books by a player you hate, research her stats and seem to know everything about her, you have actually wasted time going on to Youtube and finding matches she played, to post on an internet forum. Mate, honestly, spend that energy on the players you do like.

You are forgeting or havent looked yet to realize 4 of those 5 matches involved a player I very much like. I had those matches on my favorites list on youtube already not because of the player I dont like, but because 1 of my favorite female players was delivering the smackdown in 4 of those and it was a glory to watch her play so well. Whether it vs a legit opponent (her sister or Justine) or an overrated bum like Seles or Graf just such a pleasure to watch her play that well either way. Only 1 of those 5 matches involved 2 players I dont like but it was a funny match so I looked it up just for the heck of it.

Honestly mate, I don't know what to say. You come across as really strange. It's quite funny, and you are passing my time in a really boring meeting, so for that I am grateful, but you really need to get a life.

My advice would be to not waste your time - he clearly only wants attention.

Regarding the Seles book...
What a terribly unfortunate tilte it has. Kind of a cross between an Oprah creation and belonging in the pitiful 'self-help' section.
Too bad.

No doubt having someone come out of the stands and stab you on a tennis court can affect your life a great deal. It was obviously a very unfortunate event.
But to come by 15 years later and exploit it for personal profit doesn't seem right.
Naturally, the press release claims that the book is meant to "help people"... but, realistically - how many people can truly identify with being a world famous tennis player, being stabbed on a tennis court, and having the media question you about it for years?
I don't see this helping anyone but Monica - financially.

And, man... what an absolutely terrible title...

I think it's more of a weight loss book aimed at women, or so she says, to go with some anti-obesity things she's doing. I won't be buying it, but I might check it out if I see it in the bookshop.
