For hackers over 50 who play a lot, What are the most cushioned tennis shoes...easier on the bones to take the pounding of the game! Looks, price, make, durability is irrelevant--easiest shoes on the body so I can play a lot...please contribute if you have any wisdom on this topic...
thanks

I thought the New Balance 1001's, or Reebok Upset DMX's had alot of cushioning, and durbable too.

The old Prince Vendettas had incredible cushioning, like walking on clouds. They're discontinued but you may still be able to find some on **** or old stock somewhere. Some of the older model Prince shoes that are still available (pre-NFF) also have great cushioning.

I have the NB CT 1001's and for the first time in ages I'm not crippled the next morning, good support and the BEST cushioning in the forefoot I've ever had. They are not slippers but if you're playing on concrete you need all the help you can get!

Well, I am glad to hear that because New Balance 800 made my heels suffer a lot, because their soles were not flexible enough, which activated a severe case of plantar fasciitis for me. Previous NB models I didn't have any problems with. BTW, those bloody shoes were very well cushioned, but that's a distinct feature, doesn't help with the heel problems.

Saving me from this was switching to the Nike Air Oscillates (Sampras's), wonderful shoes, stupid Nike doesn't make them anymore, thrashing new models out every day, as if quality and previous user satisfaction is of no concern.

For the original poster: I would swear to wearing in any shoe the Spenco full or heell support. $25, but worth a gold mine.

I'm not so sure about "most" cushioning but from my experiences,
Addidas a3 and Reebok DMX was the best cushioning I've ever
had under my feet.

New Blance Discontinued 651's?

I like the New Balance 651 shoes for comfort, but I can't find them anymore. Anyone know who may still stock them?

Marius_Hancu - thats interesting, I also developed a bad case of plantar facitis while wearing New Balance 800's. I bought INsoles and switched back to the 651's and it eventually went away. I didn't atribute it to the stiff soles at the time but I'm sure it was a factor. I always wear New Balance because I have a wide foot, and currently wear the 1000's, which are nicely cushioned and a bit less $ than the 1001's, but wore through the toe (I'm a big dragger) in about a month. I may try to trade them in for another pair of 651s.

Istar, if you live anywhere near New England, I think you can still find 651's at the New Balance Outlets.

I am pretty sure New Balance gave up on 800 as a result of messages from users, because I sure wrote them:))

In terms of wide shoes, you might want to consider Wilson. I had 1240s and it took me two years to wear them out, thus very good rubber for practice. For matches I am still using the Nike Oscillates, more precise in terms of fit and lower.

Now I've started to use Wilson 700s, but they don't have the same heel fit, thus for the same size, my heel is a little bit loose down there, and I have to lace them up pretty tightly. Rubber's guaranteed for 6 months though. Again, I'll be using them for practice only. As far as I know, they are available in several widths.
