Move from babolat pure drive?

I know search button, but i couldn't find my answer for my question.
So, the babolat pure drive cortex is a pretty good stick. But it has to much power. I wanted to try something that has more control, but less power.
I heard good stuff about the babolat pure storm limited. But i want to know,
What racket did you move from the babolat pure drive cortex?
Thank you for looking.

Yeah, i like it as well, but sometime i just don't like playing with it. And i can't do my backhand with it.

yeah, i do have problems with my backhand too, but that was a long time ago (more like 3-4 months). i sometimes believe that the racquet is made for 2 back handers....

anyway, its such a stable racquet and theres a reason why so many has it. all i can say, the volley on the racquet sucks though. hmm...maybe i suck in volley, i dunno.

I was in your exact position. I know use the Yonex RQiS 1. I will use these till I can't get them anymore.

Cheers,

Tim

The pure storm limited and the Pure Drive Cortex are different as night and day. The Pure Storm provides almost no power which is the complete opposite of the Pure Drive. I'd say to try the Aeropro Drive- its plays similar to the Pure Drive w/ less power and more control. Then maybe try the Aerostorm also before PS limited...

There are a few things wrong with this (and this whole thread.) In the range of Babolat racquets, there is pretty much no difference in free power between the PSL and the PDR. It's all in the strings. Stringing the PSL with VS Gut at 45 lbs will be much more powerful than a PDR with Ashaway Kevlar at 75 lbs...You just simply cannot accurately compare a players' stick with a higher-end tweener stick in terms of "power."

My advice, and I know this isn't what you want to hear because you really want to sport some new sticks, is just to stick with your Pure Drives, strung a little more tightly, and just focus on improving your game as a tennis player.

Whatever you do, do not turn into a perpetual racquet changer. Trust me, I learned this the hard way. Don't become someone who blames everything on their racquet (good or bad). Play tennis because you love to play. There are two types of tennis players: tennis players, and equipment overraters. Think about that. Notice how the "legends" on these boards are 3.5s, tops. Go figure.

I agree with sticking to one stick. But dont agree on people in these boards being 3.5 tops :)

Just keep the Pure Drive. That's not a frame with "too much power". If you learn to use good technique, you can play fine with it. All kinds of high level players use that frame.

i agree.

I agree with you, I was thinking about just putting a different string on it for one more time, to see if it still has to much power. And Thank you for the advice.

No crime in trying a different frame here and there, but in the big picture, I think that it's important to avoid letting your gear become a distraction for you as you develop your game. That Pure Storm might bring a bit of an education in softer frames for you, but I saw the LM Radical in your sig. Is that one your backup? While that frame has some more flex, it's also a little less spin happy for some hitters without a really deliberate swing across the ball in my experience.

If you sample some other racquets, take your time. You may find out just how well your present stick fits you compared to some other stuff out there, but in any case, your PD is the one that you're adjusted to right now. If you test drive a different racquet, you'll probably need to settle in with it for more than just a couple of minutes to find out what it can do for you.

dont know about if the "legends" on these kind of boards are 3.5s or not but i know this for sure: PICK A STICK A STICK TO ONE STICK (everybody knows that pro´s do that and show PJ´s on tour on the same old racquet). It´s not the stick that makes the diference, in 99.9% of time you change sticks you have a placebo efect for a couple of matches and then it starts all over again, you "think" you need to change sticks! NEED!!!!! MUST !!!!. THAT´S THE EXACT REASON WHY RACQUET MODELS CHANGE EVERY COUPLE OF YEARS, THEY DONT CHANGE MUCH IN QUALITY or Tech, BUT JUST THE WAY IT MAKES (some) COMERCIAL SENSE!

A racquet is (in most part) a frame that keeps the strings tensioned with more or less ability, and change in flex and stiffness, size, confort and in some other very small details. If you get used to one stick, your game will adapt it self and if you stay with the same stick(s) (and strings!) beyond the "danger zone" (in the "want a new stick" kind way) you´ll see that your game will improve much more then with a new stick (and you´ll have the money to do other stuff).

Racket technology has now developed to a stage where there´s little to inovate!

I moved on to a regular Pure Storm and put a little lead on it (about 9 grams) and I'm doing great. I like it a lot better than the Pure Drive.

I keep coming back to my lm radical, if i'm unhappy with my babolat.

I don't believe its the sticks that cause the power. Its the way I hit.
But i need a stick to volley with. I'm more of a all around player, but i like to come to the net alot. Therefore, changing sticks.

I'm going to assume you hit the ball relatively flat because if you hit with a decent amount of spin there shouldn't be an issue controlling the ball from the baseline. You should consider trying out the APDC instead, it has more control, comfort, spin, and slightly less power.

i switched to the k blade 98 after my pure drive cortex + broke and i gave my pure drive teams to my dad. its a very good racquet, try it ot

I've been using the Pure Drive Roddick for about 6 months and I don't think I'll be changing any time soon.
