Murray v Del Potro - The rivalry that could have been?

These two have not played as much as I would have liked them to in big match situations, because I think they have perfect contrasting styles which can lead to good, compelling tennis.

Last year we got a taste of what could have been, with the Olympics final and the Davis Cup classic. Shame that Del Potro was injured a lot, other I personally think, this would have been a interesting rivalry to watch over the past few years.

I'm more of a newby than I care to admit, my first match as a tennis 'fan' was the final of the '09 US open.
I was sure Rog was gonna take it.
Delpo was just a monster, so damn likeable too.

Delpo the giant teddy bear with the huge forehand. I like that guy so much - too bad he had so many injuries. I think Djokovic wouldn't have dominated the tour this decade the way he did if Delpo wasn't injured.

I hope he can play more years without injuries.

I know but still he has given us so much.

A lot of great match and moments over the years.

One positive way of looking at it for Delpo, the timeline of his injuries still allowed him to come up big at 2 Olympic Games. 2 incredibly special career moments for him.
