My pick to reach 2007 Wimbledon final: Max Mirnyi

He's one of those guys who has the weapons to get the job done on grass. He just needs to peak at the right time. Something tells me this year he will break out and make a run to the final, or at least the semi's.

The grasscourt field is as weak as it's been for years. Last year we had 34-yr-old Bjorkman in the semi's and a clay-courter in the final.

I look for Mirnyi to take out Nadal in the quarters and Roddick in the semi's before succumbing to Fed in the final.

Murray is the fashionable pick for a breakthrough, but I see him getting knocked off early this year - I think he'll make a run to the semi's next year though.

Anyone else have a darkhorse prediction?

Miryni's a good choice. I'm not sure if you can call baghdatis a dark horse, he did make it to the semis last year. He's my pick to take a deep run. Also pick hewitt as another formidable opponent to both nadal and roddick (not quite on par with Fed yet).
And of course, for kicks, I'd say tsonga. He has weapons, not really mastered, but he has the weapons you need to win wimbledon (or at least what you needed to win wimbledon a while ago: big serve + big forehand + good slice.

I think it depends on the draw. Thats a very brave prediction as Mirnyi will not be seeded and could face Federer in the first round.
My darkhorse picks are Kohlschreiber and Vliegen depending on the draw.

Hewitt's form is back on, so as a former champion there, he is in with a chance.

How about a Henman last hurrah???

anything is possible.... but to take out nadal and roddick, the chances is slim.....

Mirnyi doesn't seem to have world class reflexes at times, though.

By the way, you mentioned a clay courter was in final last year.

But Federer himself is not so bad clay courter. Can I say two clay courters
were in the final ?

well seeing as my punt for queens didn't work

Del Potro for Wimbledon :D

If i keep picking the dude for every tournament, he's bound to win one sometime, right?

What would you say if Nadal takes out Mirni at queens ?

Intersting logic. Mxing things up. I'm not sure of Max can hold it all together as the tournment progresses. But Bjorkman showed last year that it can happen.

But I do agree that I think Murray will fall out early. His wrist is giving lot's of problems.

travlerajm, my darkhorse for Wimby is Daniele Bracciali. Of course, Karlovic is not a darkhorse anymore, but both, Bracciali and Karlovic are my darkhorses. I'll add Guccione as well, whose serve can do havoc on grass (but of course, since his movement sucks, he can't pass the 3rd round (IF HE MANAGES TO REACH IT)

So, Bracciali first, and Karlovic second ;)
