Chances are Gasquet may have a mental 'comedown' tomorrow after by far his biggest slam win to date.

Saw the end of 4th and 4th set breaker and 5th set. That was the best 1 handed backhand display I've seen. Bloody brilliant.

being so tired, Gasquet has not a chance tomorrow against Fed.

But his backhand is really on fire today. His backhand was firing winners all round. But roddick was crap and always sent balls to his backhand and to receive a winner. lol..

Had a job to do and didn't get to watch until 4-4 in the third...what I saw was wonderful tennis...Gasquet has a lovely one hand bh and uses it brilliantly....think RodDICK took the third set for granted and Gasquet stepped it up a few notches....I'm thrilled for Richard because I really don't care for the guy he played. I will give Bozoboy credit for not losing it too much, no outbursts or smashed racquets or ugly behavior. He actually took the defeat like a man...hey, maybe he's actually growing up:confused:

Wow I'm really glad I came home for lunch and decided to record the match! This was at 6,4 6,4 2,0 Roddick; I kind of had a weird feeling that Gasquet would bounce back and make a match out of it. Can't wait to get home and watch it, rather than just looking at the scoreboard.

Oh, it's true...

Everything I said about Gasquet and this match earlier in this thread proved accurate. I said if Roddick didn't serve well, Gasquet would probably beat him. I also said there was no way Roddick would win it in straights. I expected Roddick to win a close contest, but I also said that Gasquet could pull the upset, and that it wouldn't be a huge upset because he has the game and is gaining confidence and strength with age.

I give him little chance to beat Federer. I think Gasquet may win a set. But the match against Fed doesn't matter. Gasquet will vault into the top ten with this win for the first time in his career, and he finally gets the tough French fans solidly behind him and erases the criticisms about his close five set losses in Davis Cup.

From this day forward Gasquet holds his head up always. A great deal of expectation and pressure has been removed from him, and he should begin fulfilling the destiny that so many of us have predicted for him.

Gasquet is TOP TEN!

Gasquet made a quantum jump in the 3rd set of this match.
Gasquet will be a big threat to Federer tomorrow.
Federer's better up his playing level....

Gasquet needs to be consistent versus Federer tomorrow, he can't have stretches of inconsistency and lose his focus. If he stays focused and can make the type of shots he did today it could be a good match, we will see.

Yep, you were definitely right. I just read the whole thread again and its funny how many people had to eat a whole piece of humble pie. lmao.

anyone see the match stats.

http://www.wimbledon.org/en_GB/scores/stats/day12/1122ms.html

93 winners usually means you are playing a slow opponent.
This is the 2nd player to have a high number of winners against Roddick.

Either Roddick is slowing down or his new style is failing.

did you see the match? no one could have got to some of those b/h winners gasquet was hitting. then again roddick was giving him 3/4 pace balls so no wonder he teed off.

Yes, I watch most of the match. I agree 3/4 pace mid court shots does not get it in the top 20. Gasquet is not known for hitting winners, only off his backhand.

Federer had no problem with Gasquet. Federer said it best, "Gasquet has a great tennis game, Roddick has a great serve". Need I say more.
