My Vintage Head Collection

Hey guys, I've been lurking here for awhile now, and would like to start contributing. I've learned so much from you guys, and hope I can be of good use. These are my vintage Head racquets in my collection. Most are in near mint condition. Still missing the 'must have' TXP and Elite Pro. Hope to get my hands on them in the near future.

Arthur Ashe Competition 3 / Trisys Lite 240 / Tournament Pro / Club Master


Prestige Pro / Special Edition Edge / Comp Pro / Graphite Pro / Club Pro / Club Pro / Comp Pro / Graphite Pro

The most interesting one is the Speical Edition Edge. I will post detail pics in another post. I've been playing with the Club Pro lately and loving it. Super flexy and full ball feel. The dwell time from impact is more than what I've felt before. Hope to get re-acquainted with the rest as soon as I can put down the Club Pro.

I 2nd that- XRC, such a special frame. Hitting the sweetspot is just double sweetness.

How much further are you going to go back... Head Master...? Head Professional...? I see what appears to be a Comp 3 I had the Comp 2 and loved it.

Nice collection! I have been playing with the Graphite Pro (black) and Comp Tour lately. They are really solid rackets that can really crush the ball.

I know I'm missing quite a few desired models (XRC, Elite Pro, TXP, Black Graphite Pro, etc), and I do have duplicates, so hopefully someone is willing to trade. I do agree that the heft of these racquets makes crushing the ball easier. What other models do you suggest that it's a 'must have' for user/collector? A list of all older Head models that's made out of the Prestige/Graphite Pro/Edge mold would be nice.

I remember seeing the XRC at every Pro-Shop. I got one a few years ago. its there !

Well, you can get your hands on a lot of nice classic Head racquets. I'm actually trimming the excesses of my Head collections by letting go of Austrian made Special Edition Pro, Flash Edge and Prestige 600 and maybe Elektra Pro and US Graphite Pro.

Its a completely different racket. The XRC is made of 100% fiberglass which is one of the most flexy-ist material for rackets and The TXE is made of Graphite and possibly other material but the TXE is meant to be stiff.

Both of them are great rackets but they have a completely different feeling

Glad to see you posting. An XRC would be a nice addition as would a head vilas, if you will allow a woody ? They do make a nice pair a challenging but rewarding player rackets. I may have a nice XRC that we could trade. I got together with any local head player recently and we hit some of the prestige classic models. He even had a prostock YouTek model that I wish I would not of hit with since now I want a few of those

The Youtek Prestige Mid and Mid Plus may fall into the same category. Once demoed, these racquets are hard to resist. I have no plan to acquire additional racquets since I am very happy with my primary sticks. Further, the current collection has incurred about $500 already albeit it is not much money for the racquet enthusiasts.

I do not have the spec, but it should very similar to the GP: 12.80oz, flex 56, SW 345. The Comp pro is a little bit more flexible. However, they both have great control, stability, and plow through -- ideal for ground strokes. They both a little bit sluggish at the net because of the heavy weight but very stable for blocks and slices. I prefer the PC600 over these two racquets because it's lighter and thus more maneuverable at the net. It's more powerful for ground strokes because of its higher stiffness.

So your GP capped would be close to 13.80 oz; that would be indeed hefty at the net... Thanks for your reply

Hey Joe, I'd love to add a XRC to my collection. I'll PM you a list of what I have on the trading/selling block.
Surprsingly, I was able to add the Elektra Pro to my collection last week since acquiring the TXP. Couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it on the shelf. The grommets are cracked and the head is a little warped to my eyes, but how can I not pick it up for a few bucks. It also desperately needs a new paint job, but I'll see how it hits first before stripping it. Now, I hope I can bump into an elusive Elite Pro. Will post pics tonight when I have a chance.
