Nadal has slowed down in every single criteria a lot

There is HUGE slowing down of Nadal in last 4/5 years, but the pandemic and related bans have masked some of it. If Nadal doesn't win AO22 , then he has won only 2 slams in last 15 (Wimbledon cancelled). Just showing the stats pictorially vs Djokovic who keeps on going on same rate.

This year, Djokovic has achieved 3 milestones from Nadal. Total titles, Total slams and Total matches won. But he is just 36.5 and Nadal is already 37.5 by Age. If we look at the stats by same age, we see most of the records are achieved in last years. You can clearly see the split by age 27/28 in every single criteria.

By 2014 Year end, Nadal had won 14 slams, 27 masters and 64 total titles.
After this, Nadal won a total of 28 titles. Out of these 8 are slams , 9 masters and 11 other titles.

By 2015 Year end, Djokovic had 12 slams, 26 masters and 59 total tiles.
After this, Djokovic won a total of 39 titles. Out of these 12 are slams, 14 masters 2 ATP finals and 11 other titles (2 ATP finals which are in between slams and masters).

Nadal seems to have slowed down a lot compared to Djokovic. And at this year, Djokovic leads in every category already despite being 11 months younger. Logic dictates, he is going to pull away from Nadal a lot, especially if 2024 is Nadal's final year on the tour.

He declined huge. That's a fact. Comparing him to 2008-2013 he is maybe at 30% his old self. However with his talent, insane skill and mentality he can still win and dominate a lot of players just like in 1st half of 2022.

Would be extremely difficult to even come back to 2022 level, but with Rafa everything is possible.

Are you saying he is 30% of his old self or 30% less of his old self?

Doesn't this make Rafa the greatest of all time because at 30% he still managed to bag Slams so late into his career? Djokovic is still 95% of whatever he once was but he'd be cooked at 80%, but Nadal at 30%, maybe even 20%, can still defeat even the mightiest foes for Grand Slam titles.

Nadal Goat confirmed. His secret is that he is always at 30% of what he could ideally be if he wasn't born injured.

Yes we are all aware of the Career Inflation Era by now. The lack of ATG's born in a 16 year span between 1987 and 2003 is totally unprecedented.

Nadal is only clinging to tennis because he's super annoyed Djokovic has left him in the dust in tennis statistics and sadly a year of tennis isn't really enough to overturn it, Especially when Novak is still competing and hasn't lost to Rafa in 10 years outside of clay. It'll be nice to see Nadal's final year on tour but expecting him to win anything outside of a POSSIBLE RG is bordering on delusion.

Damn, a tennis player entering his late 30's has slowed down? Has anyone done an investigation into how this is possible?

Fed had a 16-1 head start. He had a 2001-2007 window to himself. Don’t moan about weak eras.

I can understand even Rafa fans a bit more as he was caught in the middle and had some bad injuries. Fed though had it easy at start and was healthy for most of his career. Therefore, please don’t moan about Djokovic getting his weaker period now.

Novak has never led Nadal in every category.

More Olympic Gold in singles: advantage Nadal.
Better H2H in Slams: advantage Nadal.
Most Slams at a particular Slam: advantagr Nadal.
More Roland-Garros titles: advantage Nadal.
More Davis Cup: advantage Nadal.
Better H2H at the US Open: advantage Nadal.
Better win% rate in US Open finals: advantage Nadal.
Better win % in Grand Slam finals: advantage Nadal.

Logic dictates Novak has never led Nadal in every category, nor will he ever do that.

Nadal hasn't played in a year.
Djokovic needed that, in order to take the slam record.
Now Nadal is back, and Djokovic must say goodbye to the slam record.
