Rafa has other plans. He said in his interview with Movistar (a Spanish TV): "I have never said that my career would end in Paris [at the French Open]."

Vamos Rafa!

On reflection if Rafa wins RG, he probably will think he can win Majors for another 12-18 months. Ive always felt Madrid should be an event he skips in his later years as i dont think it is good prep for RG due to it being at altitude

Tf is a Nadal hater doing here?
Sinner won't even take a set from Nadal at 2024 RG, its a total mismatch, when Sinner is only good enough to win a clay title like Umag.
I don't think Sinner has much time left anyway, with his toothpick legs he's prone to major injury, he'll never amount to anything on clay or grass (though grass is easier for him), and was lucky to win the AO with Djok playing the worst match of his career and Med playing 6 more hours to give away that 2-sets-to-love lead.
Nadal will be praying for a 1st Round meeting with Sinner, or the fading Novak Djokovic.
Sinner is a cakewake, and Djokovic is harder but will give Nadal a 30-30 H2H.

We will see if he actually plays Rome.
I'm sure he'll play Rome, he's proven his body is in great shape by those 4 Madrid matches.
I'm just worried he will skip Roland Garros, because he keeps talking about how best-of-5-sets is so different and how happy is with his past achievements at RG.
He's known for being negative, but I've never seen him this negative, like he's trying to talk himself out of Roland Garros...
Even if he wins Rome, I fear he'll make an excuse to skip RG, and that would be an incredibly wasted opportunity.

Nadal isn’t winning anything anymore mate I’m a hardcore fan this is a farewell tour he is just trying to stay relevant during this send off. He will just play a bunch of exhos for sponsorship he loves the money as you can tell so enjoy the last send few matches!

You know what? I’m not bothered whether he wins anything this year or not. He has an incredible CV in tennis and nothing can take that away. I’m just rooting for him to be able to play and stay healthy. He got to R4 in Madrid, arguably his weaker venue on clay and he looked so happy to have played himself into good enough form to do so and he didn't get trounced by a freak serve bot in Lehecka, he gave a good account of himself considering all the circumstance. Vamos Rafa!
I just want to enjoy seeing him play the rest of this year in the same vein and hopefully that will reap rewards. I'm more than happy to be able to see this legend of the game play out his final year when so many others haven’t been able to do so.
If he can end up in 2022 form and lift a trophy again, great. If not, then I can live with that. Let’s just watch him bow out doing what he loves and with all the credit he so deserves :)

Agreed…I got tremendous enjoyment out of simply watching him play last week…My
whole mood lifts when I know he is playing :) Vamos!

Your baseless speculation and slander toward Nadal, is not allowed on Nadal News 2.0.
Even Nadal said he doesn't know if this is his last year, and hasn't ruled out 2025.
No more posts allowed from you.

He may play laver cup 2025 he ain’t playing slams into 2025 that’s pretty delusional. I don’t know why u think the slam race is still on even if he wins FO 24 by some miracle he ain’t sticking around to even or even break the record his body won’t allow it

Same here. I lost most interest in Madrid once Rafa lost.
As Rome approaches I hope he does well there too, and especially stays healthy.
Then on to RG where I hope he is able to go a few rounds. Best of 5 sets will make that more difficult, especially against young guys, and not being seeded.
And then whatever televised events I can catch, even straight exhibitions will do.
His career may end, but he's still got the magic.

During the U16 girls’ QF of the Madrid Open, a Rafa Nadal Academy player from Mexico (Constanza Fernández) lent her racket to her opponent after the latter had broken all her rackets and would have been disqualified if she hadn’t been able to continue playing.

here's Rafa teaching Jr fist pump celebration.
Jr's small racket is with grandma but he wants dad's big one:laughing:

have you guys seen Rafa interview where kids tell him they've seen Rafita loves puppies and ask if he'll get him one.
Rafa says Jr likes all animals but they have their hands full with him , can't manage a puppy too:laughing:

Cachin:
One of those days that you never think will come, but you imagine them and dream about them.

@rafaelnadal, I was lucky enough to compete and share court for over 3hrs with you, it was a dream come true. Your legacy will be eternal and we all thank you.

great feedback from guys at the practice:
Banger. Rafa puissant et souriant [Rafa powerful and smiling]

Loved seeing Rafa again, big emotions and a great practice. He moved quite well for a first practice and really showed big intensity as always

Hoping/thinking it is a good sign he is back practicing so quickly post Madrid…Hopefully can continue to build momentum :)

Nadal doesn't usually win Madrid, and this Madrid was impressive, he beat De Minaur in impressive fashion, and then beat Cachin (and he was ranked 48 as recently as August 2023 and is a claycourt specialist), and played well in the 75 64 loss to Lehecka who would not win a set if that match was played at Roland Garros.
Nadal knows exactly how to break those big servers on Philippe Chatrier.
