Nadal has been playing terribly lately, even an unknown took a set off him on clay, he will have Joker covered once he returns anywhere near to his regular higher standard.

Nadal not worried by Djokovic form

ROME: World number one Rafael Nadal has denied that he is concerned by the current winning form of his closest rival Novak Djokovic.

The world number two from Serbia has had an incredible start to the season, winning his first 33 matches in a row.

He has won all six tournaments he's played in including the Australian Open in January and three Masters Series, in which he beat Nadal in the final every time.

The most recent of those was last week, where Djokovic managed to beat Nadal on clay for the first time in his career in Madrid.

But the Spaniard says he's not worried.

"That's part of the game, I'm not worried about Novak. I probably arrived here (in Rome) a bit more nervous because I felt I played badly in the semi-finals and final in Madrid.

"I don't like to play badly. Novak is playing fantastically, he beat me three times but I don't know how many times I beat him in the past.

"I beat him in the US Open (final in 2010), I beat him in the Masters Cup (last year in the round robin stage), three times at Roland Garros (2006, 2007 and 2008), once in Rome (the 2009 final), Madrid two years ago (in the semi-final).

"Now he's playing well but in the past I played very well against him, I've won lots of titles (against him).

"I can't be nervous about Novak because I've won a lot of titles in my career, more than I ever dreamt I would.

"I'll keep fighting to try to find solutions to play better, I'll have more chances for sure.

"In Madrid I think I played badly. I want to play well and I want to do it my way.

"He's doing it his way, he's doing very well. I can only play against him in the final (here).

"I'm not more worried about Novak, I'm only worried if I'm not playing well.

"I'm doing my season and if one player is doing beter than me then I congratulate him."

Nadal still leads Djokovic 16-9 in their head-to-head meetings and 9-1 on clay but the Serbian has won the last three, all this year.

It remains to be seen how long Djokovic can keep up this winning run but Nadal doesn't expect it to affect him when it does come to an end.

"When you're winning you're less affected by a loss," he said.

"When I was winning everything and I lost, I felt it less. Novak will lose, I don't know if it will be tomorrow or in six months but tennis is like this.

"Some moments are fantastic, you feel confident, you feel unbeatable but things change.

"For him the big advantage is that he plays well on other surfaces (than clay) and another is that he's very good.

"He's playing well so all I can do is congratulate him. I'm happy with how I'm doing and we'll see what happens in the next weeks, the next months and the next years."

Absolute crap from Nadal, as expected. Has he ONCE given credit to his opponent WITHOUT ADDING "oh but I played so badly, I had a slight pain in my famoz azz so it's only my fault I lost"?

I hope Djokovic beats him another 6 times this year so Nadal will be left with memories from half a decade back since there won't be any new wins over Novak.

Nadal is not worried but he's barking hahahahahe..

he is obviously crying out loud..

Uncle Tony should make him focus on RG and if he can win that.. all will be well.. if he doesn't, he is done..

'cause I don't see mental strength in barking.. :)

So whats your point? Nadal only lost because he played badly or did he lose because Djokovic made him play badly?

Of course the winner will have better stats than the loser...I really don't understand what you are trying to say here...

I find your lack of common sense disturbing

I think Nadal may be preparing for a fierce run at this year's FO. Djokovic better be prepared to face a very motivated Nadal, and he may have to do it after 6 best of five set matches. Then, we make the turn towards Wimbledon. This is going to be very interesting.

I hope Djokovic isn't idiotic enough to eat this up, but you never know.

Nadal emphasizing and downplaying over and over in that speech how poorly he played, and between the lines saying how Djokovic can take nothing from this to Roland Garros, and how meaningless that win was in terms of penetrating Nadal's RO fortress. He does a pretty damn bad job of it...

This will be followed by throngs of *********s giving their logic as to how this match has close to zero meaning for RG(FO).

many of you better read proper info. i heard him... (heard, not read) saying that he didnt play well against Djok, and he added... i guess it is because Djoko is playing fantastic.

Well, I guess that explains why he lost 1 set to Federer.

Now he is always expected to beat Federer with the Miami score line.

I hate his backanded compliment. If he's going to say Nole played fantastic, just say it without the excuse about him playing badly. I've never heard him said he himself played great but a better player(Nole) was better.

He even said he played poorly against Federer in the semifinal even though he won the match. And doesn't realized in that match Fed was an errror machine. To Nadal, he plays poorly but the other players play great. He just simply doesn't have the gut to give genuine compliment.

He better off be like Serena....don't give any player credit and make all the silly excuses !

I dont know what else Nadal is expected to say when hes asked the question.

Of course you dont play as well as your opponent when you loose, usually that is why you loose!!!!!

I do hope Federer notices the slight dig at him and makes a point of stepping up his game against Nadal next time they play.

What loose are you talking about?

He didn't play well b/c of his shoes was loose; his grip was loose ?

Or he had a loose tooth ?

That stats show that Nadal did not play badly, he was not as aggressive as Novak. That is a problem that Nadal has, so we will have to see if he can amp it up or not.

If not Novak will be the clear winner here, and I am still not going to count out Federer.

Who knows, maybe Nadal is saving himself to win the slams and honestly does not care for the #1 spot. To me, if anything he seemed to want to avoid that #1 spot like it was a bad thing.

(The thing about Djokovic that doesn't add up in all this hype is.....Djokovic has always been called a better hardcourt player than Rafa, so why is it a shock that he's beaten Rafa in Indian Wells and Miami - and Rafa has never won Miami but almost beat Djokovic there. Also, in 2009 Djokovic/Rafa played the longest 3 set match ever at Madrid, so why is it a shock that he beat Rafa at Madrid this year? How does any of this indicate Djokovic can beat Rafa at Roland Garros?)
