Name this string...

I purchased a used PS97 a while ago and I really liked the hybrid this guy used in it. He remembered that the cross strings were OG Sheep 16, but couldn't remember what poly he used. It's definitely a round poly, and I don't know if it's because of the hybrid or not, but it's a really arm friendly setup and gets really good spin! If you could help me out I would really appreciate it!

Unfortunately there is no writing at all anywhere on the string.

In real life it looks almost a tad olive green/goldish instead of the more yellow gold of 4G so I'm pretty sure that's not it. This setup seems to have the same power level as the Cyclone/Velocity setup I've tried in the past. Because of this I didn't even think about Monogut ZX as I've heard it's a pretty powerful string.

I think the mains are Ashaway Monogut ZX. Do a search for tips on stringing it.

I guess it does look like that, doesn't it. I think that may have been a good call Muppet!

I guess I have one more question... Is OGSM/MonoGut ZX a weird combination, or is it common and I've just never heard it mentioned before?

Zyex is one of the newest string materials on the market. It is very unique and has some nice properties. It's elasticity is a lot like natural gut, but from the side it's pretty hard. When strung full bed, it notches easily. A drawback is that it's pretty wired and noisy. So it helps to hybrid it with either a dead or muted string.

I've used Head Volocity (muted) and Pro's Pro Hitec Multifiber (dead) in the crosses and both were great, but the Velocity had a little higher launch angle than the Hitec Muti. The Hitec Multi hybrid felt like Pacific Classic natural gut full bed. Also, a little too high of a tension on the ZX will give it a weird shock feeling that reminds me of surface tension on water. So just string a little lower and that goes away.
