There’s a way of doing that. Nobody comes to the stadiums. Put [athletes] in big hotels, wherever you want to play. Keep them very well-surveilled, but have them tested like every week and make sure they don’t wind up infecting each other or their families, and just let them play the season out.
The NBA needs to get approval from their #1 asset for this to happen - LBJ gave a public hard no last month on playing in empty stadiums, but maybe he would reconsider? In news that may help the 2019-20 NBA season resume, Dr. Anthony Fauci said Wednesday that he sees a path for U.S. sports to return this summer.
Fauci, who is director of the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and a White House health advisor, told Snapchat’s Peter Hamby that the keys involve testing and a quarantine procedure.
When asked about playing sports this summer amid the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Fauci said:
I believe he's going to do an about face; probably say he was quoted out of context. That, and he has a legit shot to enhance his legacy by leading his third different team to a title if the season somehow resumes.I believe he's going to do an about face; probably say he was quoted out of context. Better to salvage the season and entertain the fans.

Forget finishing the regular season. Time to start organizing and seeding the NCAA style 30-team playoff bracket! Best of 3 for first 2 rounds! The Big LeBronski changed his stance several weeks ago during his 14-day quarantine imposed after the 4 Nets players (last opponents) tested positive.
As to pulling this off, where? They’re going to need 4 gyms/stadiums and play four games daily to finish the regular season. There’s not two many cities that are in low-infectious areas and have four venues. Ironically, Utah Jazz’s Vivint Center (NBA patient zero Gobert) and three university campuses within an hour of “cold spot” Salt Lake City might be closest to ideal.
The Cadavers live again! The Pistons, misfireForget finishing the regular season. Time to start organizing and seeding the NCAA style 30-team playoff bracket! Best of 3 for first 2 rounds!
I want to watch some live basketball when it returns.
Sounds like we might get resumption soon. Fingers crossed.
Good times await, fam.I was looking at an article today on it about the digital fans. For us watching on TV it would be like we're watching a game with a packed stadium or whatever. That actually sounds like something I would think WWE would have attempted. All sorts of different ideas being thought about, ideas for the experience. Of course, it will still take getting used to be the players.
But yes, I've never been more interested to give NBA a real try. Still watching different documentary on Youtube about it.
I would like to watch some people live, as soon as it’s possible.I want to watch some live basketball when it returns.

I shall be expecting a top-100 countdown in short order.
Only this time... it gets a dedicated thread.
Roundball.
He's coming to Toronto next year.@Federer and Del Potro
Remember I talked about leaving Golden State because they were too OP. The Bulls team I'm on now has me (95) Zion (97) Jokic (94) Russell (92) and that computer generated player is now at 91. Yeah, they seem a bit OP now. Put the difficulty up to the one before highest level for the playoffs. Missed a couple of shots, was 6 down and then came back on and we're 25 down. A bit challenging now.
And to just keep it real. A random basketball video.
I hope they get creative with the playoff format. I want my NBA tournament to give every team a shot.According to Bleacher Report, keep your fingers crossed but there’s a chance the 2019-20 season will be completed with camps to open by mid-June and games to be started in a single venue by mid-July. Orlando Disney World has the inside lane to host games at their Wide World of Sports complex and the ability to provide the hotel space necessary to house players, staff and media personnel.
Hard to get free agent superstars to relocate to Utah too.RIP Jerry Sloan
4th all time in regular season coaching victories
6th all time in postseason coaching victories

5th coach to reach 1k victories
1 of 2 coaches to reach 1k victories with one team
22 seasons with one club (most all time)

0 coach of the year awards
Talking heads on ESPN this morning were suggesting one-game sudden death for #7 vs #10 and #8 vs #9 to lock in the bottom two teams in each conference. Without any prior games to get the rust off that’s basically Russian roulette. In the WC that’s Mavs vs Pelicans and Grizzlies vs PTB. In the EC that’s Nets vs Hornets and Magic vs Wizards.I hope they get creative with the playoff format. I want my NBA tournament to give every team a shot.

A solid playing career too. A 6’5” wing player, Sloan averaged 14.0/7.4/2.5 for his career and his #4 jersey was retired by the Bulls.RIP Jerry Sloan

@r2473 cherry picks. You’d think with the harems Mormon men are allowed to have it would be easier
Tough division with the Bucks BITD. Norm Van Lier made a great backcourtA solid playing career too. A 6’5” wing player, Sloan averaged 14.0/7.4/2.5 for his career and his #4 jersey was retired by the Bulls.
To be fair, PTB was a M*A*S*H scene with Nurkic out the whole season, Collins playing just 6 games and Lillard himself out 8 games. When healthy, he averaged 28.9/4.3/7.8 so I’m not sure about “playing better.”Another out of touch athlete appears. Lillard says he won’t play if his team doesn’t have a chance to make the playoffs. Maybe he should have done better during the first 66 games they played.

His point will be moot if the 1-10 or 1-12 conference “play-in” system is approved. If the league says, “play to 70 games and top 8 are in,” why should he play and risk injury in competition scheduled just to equitably arrange the lottery portion of the draft?
PTB was in position to challenge Memphis for #8 if all 82 games were played but they are out if Grizzlies go 2-3 in their run to 70, no matter what PTB does.
I’m all for the “play-in” and hope they reward #7 and #8 with a bye and let #9 (PTB) play #12 (SAS) and #10 (Sacto) play #11 (NOP) in a 1-game SD format. Then go Bo3 with #7 (Dallas) playing the lower advancing winner and #8 (Memphis) playing the higher advancing winner.
Somehow I have faith in Silver getting this right.
If NBA does copy NHL by expanding the playoff pool, Lillard plays. In his comments, he was expressing acceptance of Memphis earning that #8 spot but playing to 70 wouldn’t be fair when SOS can’t be leveled as much as the full 82 would. That’s why they need at least 1-10 or 1-12 like the NHL.injuries happen to every team every year. They weren’t good enough to get into the playoffs after 66 games or 80% of the season. If they aren’t gifted a chance via more than 4 games or a play in tournament they have no one but themselves to blame. Shouldn’t be talking about sitting out now it’s a bad look. Let the organization “make” the decision and no one will care.
NHL today said top 24 make the playoffs and the season will resume with the playoffs, regular season is done. I can see the nba copying that. Makes sense no need for more regular season games from a basketball standpoint. Money and tv contracts disagree so we’ll see what happens
Meh. Been on a self-imposed boycott after the league's disgraceful kowtowing to China and throwing one of their own under the bus. The opening nite and Xmas were the only live action I've caught so far this season.
Having said that eliminating teams without playoff hopes makes sense. Not seeing anything about the crowd/fans so curious how that will play out. Don't expect my boy Kawhi to go all the way this time - he and PG don't seem to have developed a good chemistry yet, probably thanks to Doc the snake oil salesman - but I doubt LBJ, The Brow and the Fakers will topple the Bucks either so don't get your hopes up.
There’s a lot of noise going on from a select few of the players so this is not a done deal yet, especially in the light that walrus cases are on the rise here in Orlando. Check back in a couple of weeks.I am looking forward to the return. Need to find a team to support.
The extended break gives The Old LeBronski a fresher set of tires and a full gas tank, no?Just noticed that the Vegas odds for the title contenders have shifted since March, with lots of new money apparently pouring in on the Lakers.
According to Caesar's:
Lakers +200
Bucks +275
Clippers +325
I wonder why this is? Is it the Kobe effect? Or do people just think LeBron was more likely than Giannis and Kawhi to be working out nonstop during the break on his personal indoor basketball court?
My expectation is that the disruption will greatly increase the odds that a major injury bites one of the 3 title favorites. But which one?The extended break gives The Old LeBronski a fresher set of tires and a full gas tank, no?
I still like LAC’s depth. There will be a lot of games in a shorter time span. Adding Noah and Reggie Jackson makes them incredibly deep.
I think there will be more soft tissue aches in the lead up to the playoff phase...hammies, quads and the like. After everyone is in shape there will be one major positive to avoid problems...no travel fatigue! My expectation is that the disruption will greatly increase the odds that a major injury bites one of the 3 title favorites. But which one?
Looking at the road records, I suspect that is what convinced the Vegas sharps to bet heavier on the Lakers and suddenly sour on the Clippers, given home court advantage goes away. The extended break gives The Old LeBronski a fresher set of tires and a full gas tank, no?

Nuggets fan?Still hyped.
Nuggets fan?
JR Smith is in the offing, and is a bargain at this stage in his career. If only LBJ could ever forgive him for the blunder.Avery Bradley announced today that he is opting out of the rest of the season to avoid putting his 6-year-old son at risk (history of serious respiratory illness).
This hurts the Lakers’ depth and might tilt the title odds pendulum back in the Clippers’ direction.
