Need advice for new Racket

Hi, I'm new here, as I found this tennis forum very active.

I'm an intermediate - advanced player and I need to update my Racket.
Currently I have an Aero Pro Drive 2013.

My type of play is : Love Spin/Top spin hits, baseline player who love to hit in power ( when I should/or when it is the best moment ). I always used 16x19 rackets. One time, I tried RPM Blast at 25kg of tension and hated the feel. ( Very rough, no power, uncofortable, but great spin) So I guess, for this type of strings, I should have gone low tension ( maybe 22)

So, at the end, what pro racket would you think it would suit me ?
I'm open to all brands

If you still like your Aero Pro 2013 the later versions I believe have been improved in terms of feel and stability. Then just hunt around for a string and tension you like.

I would like to try other type of racket. I was looking for Blade 98 v7, Pure Strike, Yonex Ezone 98 or maybe an Head.
I've played with a Wilson before, just one time, and I remember I liked the feel.

Go ahead and try them. The racquets that you have listed are all good ones plus a lot of others out there. Enjoy the ride :)

ah just realised you ask for racket recommendations and not string. Not sure about that tbh

I'm more of a beginner / intermediate, but I tried the Blade 98 v7 (16x19) recently and really liked it. I've heard others swear by it.

Totally agree. There are lovers and haters. And this applies to all racquets that I know/heard of in this forum and in my tennis circle. I just want to prepare OP for the real world out there. This is how I started and look what it has done to me. I'm a hopeless racquetholic now with no end in sight :)

Well,I can only buy one :D

I think I'm going with Blade 98. I was said that racket is to stiff, so low tensions tend to work better in that racket. Is this correct ? I know this is subjective

Do you prefer heavy racquets? Also do you prefer 100 or 98 racquets?

Blade 98 v7 is not a stiff racquet. The 18*20 version is my racquet of choice right now with some weight added to it. I would suggest you demo a few racquets before randomly buying one. This will help you make sure the racquet actually fits your game and that you actually feel comfortable with it.

Sorry, but I can't demo rackets. It's not easy in my country.
Never played 18x20 pattern yet

Try buying a used one in the classifieds on this site. It's a fairly liquid market, meaning if you buy one and don't like it, you can probably sell/trade it without taking much of a hit.

maybe the new Dunlop SX300.... i read it is very similar to the Pure Aero range and should be more comfortable too.

If you like heavier racquets, with an open pattern, the gravity line won't suit you well, since they are all 18x20 on the models over 300g.

The Speed or the Extreme line, if you want to go with Head, makes more sense.

Sorry if i missed but, what is the reason for the racquet change?

APD2013 feels very light in stock form. It plays soft for APD but lacks in solidness and control.
If you want to stay with Babolat - try to find APD 2010. It is rock solid and has some good control.
If you want other brand - try Head Extreme. Good option.

It doesn't have to be an Head. That Extreme line seems to powerful!

I have an eye in some rackets : YOnex Ezone 98, Blade 98 v7, Head Speed or extreme / Pure Aero/strike.
But I'll see older models for sale as well

Then give APD GT 2010 a shot. Better than 2013

Head extreme is simular to a Pure Aero, the Speed Mp gives less spin then extreme but more control, still pretty powerful. See my reviews on youtube: Tennisrally. I reviewed extreme, the new 360+ speeds, Head prestige, Wilson Blade, Clash.

If you want heavier racquets you can easily find a racquet you like and then have tennis warehouse customize the weight/balance for you. The trick is finding a retail stick that has lower weight for customization but has a good stock swingweight. That being said I would wholeheartedly recommend trying the Tecnifibre Tfight 305 XTC 18x19 racquet. Along the same lines if you want more power then try the same Tecnifibre Tfight except in the 315 XTC model. As far as Wilson the Blade 98 v7 16x19 would be a good one to try IMO. it all depends on the swingweights and power level you want. have fun!

Well, I went with the WIlson Blade 16x19 v7 305G with an hybrid setup ( Multi+poly strings ) at 23/22kg of tension.
I played yesterday with the racket and my conclusions are :

1- This is a pure control and precision racket. If my footwork is great I can place the ball where I want
2- The sound when the ball hits is so strange, but at the same time I like it.
3- For me, in the first time, was hard to get used to the racket, I felt like I was not hitting the ball correctly. It demands great footwork and technique.
4- You need to generate your own power ( this is the tricky part to me, I need to find a good way to do this, maybe hit the ball sonner)
5 - I'm liking the racket so far, but you have that feel : what if I had choosen the yonex or head, etc.. :D
