need help.. one-piece with floating clamps

i am trying to figure out a better way of doing the first cross on a one piece stringing job with floating (flying) clamps. the method i have been using thus far is double pulling the first two crosses but i just wanted to see if there was any other (more accurate) way to do this.

i searched the forums for an answer but the only thing i found was using a starting pin to clamp with the first cross. for this method, i am confused as of where to put the starting pin to clamp the first cross to. if i put the pin in the next cross then how do i weave the next cross? any help would be greatly appreciated!

Where there's a will, there's a way!

The last post is correct that Klippermate suggests a double pull for the first top cross strings. That's how I do it.

IF you want to tighten only one with your starting pin, you can start with the second cross, put the pin in the hole for the third cross and clamp. Then string the first cross, use the clamp from the starting pin/2nd cross and clamp on the 1st and 2nd cross. The loop down to do the 3rd cross and you're on your way.

IMO, unnecessary... as the tension for the 1st top cross doesn't have a huge impact on the stringbed tension.

You could use the short side to run the top cross and clamp it on the outside of the frame with a scrap piece of string in the opposite jaws of the clamp or adjust the clamp for only one string. Then run the second cross with the long side and clamp the second to the first. I would not double pull.
