Neos 1000...throat mains rubbing

Sorry All. Even with all of the searching and reading and youtubing I'm still not seeing how to mitigate the impact of mains rubbing against the throat during the first few mains on a NEOS 1000.

1. Is this something I just have to live with?
2. Should I jack up the tension on the rubbing mains to compensate for the tension loss?
3. Am I missing something with how to set up the machine that will prevent rubbing?

I can't imagine that the NEOS 1000 gained it's pretty amazing reputation with no way to pull a fairly accurate tension on these first bunch of mains.

Thoughts or advice?

Thanks all!

Are you running the mains to the tensioner under the throat? If so the rubbing issue is minimal and shouldn't affect the tension at all.

Never been an issue with tension for me (the loss from the potential friction is a non-issue) ---however, do make sure that anytime you are pulling over a part of the frame itself that you take care not to mar the frame with the tensioned string.

I am running them under the throat. I'd always heard that rubbing the strings against the frame would have to cause tension loss because of the friction. Seems like the consensus is that it's nominal.

I'm fairly new to stringing (only strung about 20 racquets) and having some mixed results so I'm looking to correct all of the leaks in my technique. Figured tension loss on center mains (due to friction) would be something to attend to but based on everyone's feedback I need to shift my focus away from something so inconsequential.

Thanks all for the replies!

Check out stringing videos by TennisBySpize on YouTube. He's got a few of them, a couple with commentary. He uses a Neos 1000. I would like to approach his level of smoothness. The mains rubbing the frame never seems to be an issue.

I'm a new stringer too and made a few common mistakes such as misweaves, stringing frame to the machine. and racquet misaligned on stringer. The last one I didn't notice till I strung the first cross and found it was ****-eyed.

I find stringing syn gut easy but I prefer how poly plays better. So I will have to put up with stiff strings and slow cross weaving.
