It says so here at the top although the actual item is not shown.

New Balance MC 1007 Men's Tennis Shoes
Ideal for avid competitors who place an premium on comfort. This line of shoes offers plush cushioning and great breathability, and is updated with Fresh Foam X.

Is @TW Staff permitted to give us a date or no? :( Or any other juicy/savory/succulent information?

You can get Lav v2 with Fresh Foam X. I use Lav v2 right now. I'm a 4E and I usually wear very thick cushion socks. But I changed to thin cushion socks so I could fit in the 2E Lav v2. The Fresh Foam X is so cushiony, that I don't need the extra thick cushion socks anymore. I have worn out fat pads on the bottom of my feet.

d-quik,

Unfortunately, this shoe will not be getting a review. We currently have a pretty deep list of shoes to playtest.

However, if you would like, I can add it to our list of potential shoe reviews that if we have time and several requests we try to get to.

Thanks,
Brittany, TW

Haha I guess. 6 years until the 1008s come out if the product cycles are of the same length. Plenty of time!

The shoe is on the website now. It's only D width though.
D width already "generous medium"

Really gnarly outsole

No more epic 12 month warranty

Upper looks stiffer and bulkier yet it is 0.1 oz. lighter.... what happened there?

Does the foam x go dead after awhile?

Picked up a pair of 1007s. I'm a regular 1006 user and was curious what the new hotness is about.

Fresh Foam - much softer than the 1006. I use Sof Sole Athlete insoles in the 1006 for extra cushion but the 1007 feels just as soft out of the box.

The included 1007 insole is made of a denser and more rubbery material that should last longer than the 1006 foam insole that went completely flat after about 2 weeks of regular use.

I was worried these would be too small and narrow as often happens with NB when they release a new model. The 1007 is just as roomy as the 1006 all around, if not more so.

The tongue has elastic straps to hold it in place. I could see how these could be annoying if you're trying to wear a size that's maybe a bit narrow for you.

Otherwise, I'm okay with the 1007. Major dad shoe energy but if it helps me play more tennis with less pain and injury that's fine.

Can you comment on lateral stability vs the 1006 when planting for a dead stop (like full on sprint to totally stopped)?

Also, are the uppers less stretchy than the 1006?

I'm not sure if it is just the angle the picture was taken from, but the 1007 look taller and the upper looks really thick.

There's a bit less lateral stability and more roll compared to the 1006. With a soft insole (like the Sof Sole Athlete insoles) I'd be worried about planting wrong and rolling an ankle. I tried a stiff support insole and it was better.

Uppers are about the same in terms of feel and materials. The elastic straps were the most noticeable difference in feel for me. Size is about the same too, maybe even a bit bigger than the 1006.

I'm not sure if it is just the angle the picture was taken from, but the 1007 look taller and the upper looks really thick.

The midsole in particular sticks out around the edges and makes the shoe look a lot bulkier. There's no more support at the ankle than the 1006 so the upper isn't really functionally taller.

The shoe itself does feel taller but I wonder how much of that is the softness of the insole.

I'm going to try different insoles to see which ones give me the stability/cushion balance I'm used to, and I wouldn't switch directly from the 1006 to 1007 for a balls out match without practicing in them first.

6 hour report on the 1007. tl;dr - they're fine, I'd buy them again.
  • Toe box feels bigger than the 1006 (I wear size 9 2E). I might even try a regular D width next time.
  • It does feel taller at first but after a few minutes of warming up I didn't notice it.
  • Lateral stability is fine but I'm not a slidey around kind of player. No problems planting and recovering out of corners.
  • Extra cushion was appreciated by my increasingly creaky knees.
I will stop hoarding 1006s (available on clearance if you look around).

edit 11/1/23 - the toe box still feels oversized compared to the 1006. I'm going to try the 8.5 2E next time.

NB's sizing is just so strange - I wear a 9.5 2E MC796v3 that's still a bit narrow, 9 2E MC1006, and now the MC1007 that feels a bit too big in 9 2E.

Anybody else wanna chime in with reviews after wearing them a little while? In the market for new shoes, these are near the top of my list. Don't have many choices when I'll likely be ordering a size 15 2E.

I've retired my 1007 to dog-walking duty. The toe box is just too big for 9 2E.

I picked up more 1006s on clearance and also tried a pair of the CT-Rally. The fitment of the CT-Rally actually feels close to the 1006, but with a much stiffer upper and more support overall.

Checking back after a few months. I ... like the 1007s now? Or I've aged into them.

I started using the 1007s for light practice again and grew to appreciate the cushioning until I wore through the soles. I picked up a pair of 9 D (regular width) 1007s and the toe box fit is spot on (I normally wear 2E wide), so it seems like (for me at least) they run 1 width wider than marked.

For matches with hard direction changes I'd still recommend the CT-Rally for more lateral support especially in the upper.
