New Head Rackets Pallets

is Head going away from the traditional rectangular TK82 pallets with the latest models? I read in one of the reviews Mark mentions that the new ones are using the speed pallets which are more like Wilson square shape. Can anyone tell? I am used to the traditional rectangular shape with my older prestiges. I am looking to demo and buy the newer models soon as my old rackets are getting worn out. What current model head rackets still have come with the TK82 pallets? Currently using the Youtek Prestige Pro. Thanks.

Why don't you simply swap out the stock pallets to the TK82? It's easy enough to do on your own for cheap with a bit of effort. At least this way, you get to venture into newer/other Head models. All my Head rackets get the TK82S replacement treatment. It just fits me better than the rectangular-shaped TK82.

Only current Head model that uses the TK82 is the Pro Tour 2.0 re-issue IIRC. Head has openly said that they recently switched the Radical and Prestige lines to the 82S in the hopes that would appeal to a broader audience. Doing the pallet swap is easy enough. It's just annoying that Head won't sell them in the US (afraid of litigation) so you have to source them from Europe. But the actual work of swapping is straightforward if that's the only drawback to a particular frame in their new lineup.

I switched from head speed pro to prestige mp 360+. I thought I was using the old head shape until I lined up the rackets handle up against the wall . It’s also a matter of overgrip. I had to match the prestige with the blue tourna grip from my jr playing days. That matters also when coming from the Wilson pro overgrip. The speed shaped grip is a welcome if it makes it easier for my son to use his western grip (bevel 3.5) , albeit in his own speed lite racket . I use my semi w grip on bevel 3 and I catch my self checking on the finger tip placement on the underside of the grip , still bevel 3 just opposite side . This is much easier done on the speed grips. The speed grips feel more modern. Whereas the old head grips on my head elite pro 600 wide body 1989, were from an era of 350gm string rackets.

what about tk76 pallet ? that's the one I have on my PT630. is it close to the traditional TK82 ? Because it doesn't feel very rectangular to me

the 76 was replaced by the 82 — basically the same shape, they feel a bit different to me but that may just be the 76 being very broke in.

The tk82s is more modern . Head kept it a clam shape only more modern feeling. If you have any sw or western grip and look at the opposite side where your fingers rest , your natural inclination is to look at the top side where your knuckles rest. This completes the circumference in your mind and the entire shape is clam shape as you hold it while playing.

I have theTK82 pallets, will go with the pallet replacement route. I grew up playing with Wilson rackets but last 6 years, I have used Head rackets prestige and I can’t get used to anything else.
